[Bug 129759] Re: new upstream release 2.2.0

2007-09-28 Thread brettalton
Using a up-to-date Gusty 7.10 build (2007-09-28), installed from the
beta CD, I tried to install these files:

http://http.us.debian.org/debian/pool/main/g/gnucash/gnucash-common_2.2.1-1_all.deb
 (installed without a problem)
http://http.us.debian.org/debian/pool/main/g/gnucash/gnucash_2.2.1-1_i386.deb
(requires libgoffice-1-2) (only libgoffice-0-4 found in repositories)
http://http.us.debian.org/debian/pool/main/g/gnucash-docs/gnucash-docs_2.2.0-1_all.deb
 (installed without a problem)

Hope that helps.

[Bug 129759] Re: new upstream release 2.2.0

2007-09-28 Thread Saïvann Carignan
brettalton : thanks for your contribution and comments. The Ubuntu
repositories contain binary package based on source packages. This is
how we can get community to help by working on the code and how we can
get a program working on different architecture ( x64, PPC, i386 ). The
package that I provide must be a source package which will be build by
the MOTU if they take the decision to add it to the repositories. For
Gutsy, there's a small chance that the package can be added because it's
very late, same if the package works great.

If you're interested about packaging, you can look at the packaging
guide : https://help.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/packagingguide/C/

and if you want to download a pre-compiled binary package for your
personnal use or for testing purposes :

http://upload.leservicetechnique.com/ubuntu/gnucash-common_2.2.1-1ubuntu1_all.deb
http://upload.leservicetechnique.com/ubuntu/gnucash_2.2.1-1ubuntu1_i386.deb

But keep in mind that this package has been merged from Debian unstable
and hasn't been tested by more than just me, so it's your risks. If you
test and use that version for the package that I built, can you please
give your comments about it here?

2007-09-27 Thread Saïvann Carignan
thanks for your comment on that.

I asked people on #ubuntu-motu and they told me to try to ask for a
exception anyway today. I the package isn't accepted for Gutsy, the
files will be ready for backports or Gutsy + 1.

For people of the UVF team : This package is a simple Debian Merge and I
used it pretty much since one day and it works flawlessly. At anytime if
this package still needs some work, I can give my help on this. You can
read my last comment for more details and to download the source
package.

Sorry. At this point in time we cannot update Gnucash to 2.2.1. It is
possible that it appears in backports after the release, though. (But
don't take my word for it.)

[Bug 129759] Re: new upstream release 2.2.0

2007-09-26 Thread Saïvann Carignan
Mmmh, I have no answer to that question.

But I created a source package for gnucash 2.2.1 based on the release in
Debian unstable. I've just got to fix the new png pixmaps name and
changed Build-depends from libgoffice-1-dev to libgoffice-0-dev ( like
it has already been do in the past ).

I tested my package under my personnal use and didn't find any problems
at all and no terminal outputs. Everything seems stable and functionnal,
the only bugs I found are the same in the 2.0.5 release.

So if it's possible to consider adding this package to repositories, all
the files are in that tarball :

http://upload.leservicetechnique.com/ubuntu/gnucash_2.2.1-1ubuntu1.tar.gz

I want to second that. GnuCash 2.2.0 is already released in july and

[Bug 129759] Re: new upstream release 2.2.0

2007-09-17 Thread Tommy Trussell
This is a very much used application. Why is it not up to date?

I believe it has no official sponsorship in Ubuntu -- which is why it's
in Universe rather than the standard repositories. There may be
technical reasons for this or there may just not be a certified Ubuntu
packager willing/able to take it on.

If anyone knows more, please add a link to the appropriate discussion /
help page showing how we can improve its standing in Ubuntu.

The 2.2.1 release has been uploaded to Debian, maybe we can just sync
that package from Debian to Ubuntu ?

http://packages.debian.org/sid/gnucash-common

libgoffice-1-dev would need to be added to Ubuntu repositories in order
to build gnucash 2.2.1.
