Hi! The problem is that after resume the protocol of touchpad is removed, file: /sys/bus/serio/devices/serio1/protocol If you boot the system loading the kernel with parameter psmouse.proto=exps after suspend it nor is removed. [Bug 1734632] Re: touchpad is jumping to the top right after suspend
Same here 4.10.0-40-generic In case it helps, xinput identifies the trackpad "ImExPS/2 Generic Explorer Mouse" but when resumes from suspension the malfunctioning trackpad is identified as "TPPS/2 IBM TrackPoint". If I reload psmouse, as suggested, it gets back to "ImExPS/2" and works properly most times. But if too many events arrive from the trackball at some point X get messy, and even if you reload psmouse X do not respond to keyboard or mouse events and the screen freezes. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1734632 Title: touchpad is jumping to the top right after suspend To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-hwe/+bug/1734632/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1734632] Re: touchpad is jumping to the top right after suspend
Hi, same problem here: after suspend the pointer goes to the upper right part of the screen and is not usable. Reload module psmouse solves the problem. Similar configuration than reporter: ubuntu 16.04, kernel 4.10.0-40 I detected the problem ~ one month ago (oct-2017), but is was solved with kernel 4.10.0-38.
