Actually yes, it is. When you install a fresh Kubuntu system, go to
systemsettings/appearance where the font settings are and logout and
login again, it looks a lot worse. The default settings on a new system
are RGB subpixel hinting and slight hinting (just like Ubuntu with
GNOME, and it looks best) and this should be just set by default in the
configuration.

We should do the same as Ubuntu and preconfigure for RGB subpixel hinting and 
slight hinting which looks best for most people 
and won't change after relogging to the system after visiting the 
configuration page.

I love Liberation Sans 9px and Droid Sans and I think can be a good
choise.
