[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 564423] [NEW] No cursor on resume from suspend
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg I upgraded from 9.10 to 10.04 Beta 2 Upon resume from suspend the cursor is missing but by watching the results of rollover (highlighted buttons etc) It is possible to still click on things. After a period of time (a couple of minutes) the cursor will come back and all will be normal. I'm not sure if it is just a time delay or if the cursor needs to be moving during the time it is absent if that makes sense. My hardware is a Vostro 1000 with an ATI video card and an AMD processor. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 41301] Re: Mouse clicks stop working sporadically
I started having this problem like 6 months ago when I was using Xubuntu 9.10. Short of restarting the Xserver nothing would fix it. I tried removing all my configuration files and starting clean but it still came back so i gave up on Xfce thinking it was the problem and installed Kubuntu 10.04 and I have it happening regularly in KDE even on the first boot. It seems like the problem might be related to the window managers because it seems like dragging or un/maximizing the windows with a double click sometimes triggers it. I use google chrome with gmail open most of the time, and a logitech mx laser mouse. but I have plugged in other mice when experiencing the symptoms and they didn't work either. FWIW I am using an nvidia 6600 video card with the nvidia proprietary drivers and a twinview dual monitor setup too. Is there any other trouble shooting info I can post? It happens pretty regularly for me. -- Mouse clicks stop working sporadically https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/41301 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 292214] Re: Xinerama broken since intrepid on MGA
I am *very* new to all of this, but I did manage to get the Maxtor G450 working in Dual Monitor mode on 9.10 I used the exact instructions as Petr's above but changed both the ChipSet values to 'mga400' and the HorizSync and VertRefresh values as seen in the xorg.conf file that I attached. Before changing the sync and refresh the second monitor at horizontal ribbons running across it. The screen boots with an odd rectangle in the upper left, but that disappears. The resolution on Screen 1 needs to be reset for my monitor I think, but I have two almost acceptable monitors now. More work needs to be done. Thank you to everyone! I hope this post is okay. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 359472] [NEW] Black Screen on Startup with Nvidia v180 Accelerated Graphics Drivers in Ubuntu
You have been subscribed to a public bug: When you upgrade to the Nvidia Accelerated Graphics drivers v180. Upon reboot you will hear the startup tone but the screen is blank. When I move the mouse around or play with key combinations I still see my HDD light come on so I know everything is fine except for a black screen. I use a Nvidia GeForce 7150M with 256MB of memory and a Nvidia nForce 630M GPU. The theme I use is called GlassyBleu. I run Ubuntu 8.10 32-Bit, I installed it using a CD i ordered from Canonical about 4 months ago. The way I fixed the problem was by uninstalling the drivers using the shell command in recovery mode, I booted into Ubuntu, reinstalled the v177.82 drivers, upon reboot everything was fine and I was able to resume everything as if nothing happened. ** Affects: nvidia-graphics-drivers (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Black Screen on Startup with Nvidia v180 Accelerated Graphics Drivers in Ubuntu https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/bugs/359472 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 564572] [NEW] no image when booting with GeForce 8400M
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-nouveau Lucid Beta2 (live CD) / Dell Inspiron 1520 / GeForce 8400M GS After choosing the 'Try Ubuntu without changes on the system', I got for 1-2 seconds a black screen terminal (only the cursor was visible), after that a weird screen and finally sort of a grey screen. I've attached the last two screen images. It switched between terminals, but the display didn't change at all. For instance, ctrl+alt+f2, sudo reboot, enter, enter = reboots the system. I found it odd since I thought the terminals didn't use the noveau driver. blacklist=vga16fb nouveau.noaccel=1 params didn't work for me. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 560877] [NEW] Ubuntu crashes. Transmission + MeTV
You have been subscribed to a public bug: Binary package hint: transmission For about few month from now my Ubuntu 9.10 crashes during watching TV or movies. For this time I could not correlate it to something else, but now I discovered that it happens when Transmission client is running. It happened 3-4 times yesterday and once today. In all cases Transmission were running along. Have been watching TV for hours without problems when Transmission were not running. For TV I use MeTV 1.0.0 and Acorp DS120 USB DVB-S tuner. System is updated as per 11-Apr-2010. So, what actually happens: first video stream starts glitching (no matter in fullscreen or windowed) and in few seconds everything freezes and goes to black screen. System totally stops responding till I power off it by pressing and holding power button. I was not sure what package to relate this problem to, but as I discovered it happens with Transmission running I posted it here. Thanks, Vadim. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 564617] [NEW] Regression : no image when starting lucid beta 2, with Nvidia Geforce6200 NV44A. Error referencing VRAM ctxdma: -12. Worked in alpha 3 and in karmic
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-nouveau I can't start the lucid beta 2 liveCD on a computer with a Nvidia GeForce 6200 SE (NV44A rev A1) : the screen stays blank after booting. It works properly with a lucid alpha 3 liveCD, and with a karmic liveCD. I managed to install the beta 2 on this computer through the alternate CD : the behavior is the same when booting on the hard drive. I installed all the updates (as of 16th april 2040) : same behavior I experience the precise same behavior with Fedora live : Fedora 12 live boots correctly (but relies on nv driver), Fedora 13 beta live gives the same blank screen (and also uses nouveau driver). I think this is a regression in the nouveau graphic driver : the version bundled with lucid alpha 3 works, the one with lucid beta 2 (or fedora 13 beta) does not. Here is an excerpt of the dmesg on beta 2 : nouveau :03:00.0: RAMHT space exhausted. ch=0 nouveau :03:00.0: Error referencing VRAM ctxdma: -12 nouveau :03:00.0: gpuobj -12 This error message does not appear when using lucid alpha 3. ** Affects: xserver-xorg-video-nouveau (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Regression : no image when starting lucid beta 2, with Nvidia Geforce6200 NV44A. Maybe this is related : before these error lines appear the following lines in dmesg : agpgart-nvidia :00:00.0: AGP 3.0 bridge agpgart: modprobe tried to set rate=x12. Setting to AGP3 x8 mode. agpgart-nvidia :00:00.0: putting AGP V3 device into 8x mode nouveau :03:00.0: putting AGP V3 device into 8x mode They appear only in beta 2, not in alpha 3. Rarely, the screen doesn't stay blank : I can see the ubuntu logo, and then it shows a weird screen of grey lines (see attached photo) It happened only twice, and without changing anything to the configuration, boot options or BIOS Also, the first time I started this computer this morning, it reached the ubuntu desktop, but froze just after (no ctrl-alt-F1 available or anything). I have to insist on the fact that I don't have any of these behaviors on karmic, or in lucid alpha 3, or in fedora 12. I don't think it is caused by a damaged hardware. ** Attachment added: Photo of the grey lines that sometimes appear http://launchpadlibrarian.net/44418709/DSC08993.JPG -- Regression : no image when starting lucid beta 2, with Nvidia Geforce6200 NV44A.
