[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 564423] [NEW] No cursor on resume from suspend

2010-04-16 Thread Borahshadow
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

I upgraded from 9.10 to 10.04 Beta 2
Upon resume from suspend the cursor is missing but by watching the results of
rollover (highlighted buttons etc) It is possible to still click on things.
After a period of time (a couple of minutes) the cursor will come back and all
will be normal. I'm not sure if it is just a time delay or if the cursor needs
to be moving during the time it is absent if that makes sense.

My hardware is a Vostro 1000 with an ATI video card and an AMD
processor.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 41301] Re: Mouse clicks stop working sporadically

2010-04-16 Thread ndeubert
I started having this problem like 6 months ago when I was using Xubuntu
9.10. Short of restarting the Xserver nothing would fix it. I tried
removing all my configuration files and starting clean but it still came
back so i gave up on Xfce thinking it was the problem and installed
Kubuntu 10.04 and I have it happening regularly in KDE even on the first
boot. It seems like the problem might be related to the window managers
because it seems like dragging or un/maximizing the windows with a
double click sometimes triggers it.

I use google chrome with gmail open most of the time, and a logitech mx
laser mouse. but I have plugged in other mice when experiencing the
symptoms and they didn't work either. FWIW I am using an nvidia 6600
video card with the nvidia proprietary drivers and a twinview dual
monitor setup too. Is there any other trouble shooting info I can post?
It happens pretty regularly for me.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 564450] [NEW] Console text flickers and moves vertically nvidia

2010-04-16 Thread Erik B. Andersen
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

On my Nvidia Geforce Go 6100, the text in the Ctrl Alt Fx consoles
flicker. By flicker, I mean that the text moves up and down a few pixels
multiple times a second. This happens continually, but the exact
subsecond spacing of the movement seems to be random.

I'm using the Nvidia Driver, but I think it also happens with the new
open source driver. I will check and confirm this.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 550625] Re: Alps touchpad is recognized but neither gsynaptics nor mouse preferences work

2010-04-16 Thread tob
I have a Sony Vaio VPCF11 which also uses the AlpsPS/2 ALPS GlidePoint
(E7: 73 02 64) running Kubuntu 10.04 beta 2. My problems with the
touchpad are identical to Mary's. xinput list-props shows a large list
of touchpad properties. Furthermore, changes that are made in the KDE
touchpad GUI are reflected in the output of xinput list-props. xinput
test AlpsPS/2 ALPS GlidePoint shows no response from the touchpad
while xinput test PS/2 Mouse outputs the relative movements and button
press events of the touchpad.

There is a duplicate bug here:

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 560775] Re: 2nd Screen not properly working on 10.04 [ATI X1200M] (despite working in 9.10)

2010-04-16 Thread mhactive
yesterday's updates have not changed anything at all for my situation.

But I'm quite hopeless to find a further solution. Does anyone of you
guys have a hint where to search for the origin of the problem?

What could cause the problem? is it the x-server itself, a driver-
specific problem?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 292214] Re: Xinerama broken since intrepid on MGA

2010-04-16 Thread Ethan Close
I am *very* new to all of this, but I did manage to get the Maxtor G450
working in Dual Monitor mode on 9.10

I used the exact instructions as Petr's above but changed both the
ChipSet values to 'mga400' and the HorizSync and VertRefresh values
as seen in the xorg.conf file that I attached. Before changing the sync
and refresh the second monitor at horizontal ribbons running across it.

The screen boots with an odd rectangle in the upper left, but that
disappears. The resolution on Screen 1 needs to be reset for my monitor
I think, but I have two almost acceptable monitors now. More work needs
to be done.

Thank you to everyone!

I hope this post is okay. It's my first on any linux forum.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 359472] [NEW] Black Screen on Startup with Nvidia v180 Accelerated Graphics Drivers in Ubuntu

2010-04-16 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

When you upgrade to the Nvidia Accelerated Graphics drivers v180. Upon
reboot you will hear the startup tone but the screen is blank. When I
move the mouse around or play with key combinations I still see my HDD
light come on so I know everything is fine except for a black screen.

I use a Nvidia GeForce 7150M with 256MB of memory and a Nvidia nForce
630M GPU. The theme I use is called GlassyBleu.

I run Ubuntu 8.10 32-Bit, I installed it using a CD i ordered from
Canonical about 4 months ago.

The way I fixed the problem was by uninstalling the drivers using the
shell command in recovery mode, I booted into Ubuntu, reinstalled the
v177.82 drivers, upon reboot everything was fine and I was able to
resume everything as if nothing happened.

currently - I know this effectively voids most debugging possibilities. :-(

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 563051] Re: Driver gets unusable slow

2010-04-16 Thread Thorsten Reinbold
The only thing I can say is that the performance is getting slower and
slower. Even the simpliest Screensaver has become a Diashow. And because
we have more Users in our Forum with similar problems, I thought it
would be a good idea to report this.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 531372] Re: [Radeon 9200 PRO] desktop environment is slow when KMS is enabled

2010-04-16 Thread Marián Bača
Dear Bryce Harrington,
Please re-open this bug. Status of this bug is incorrect. It can not be
invalid, because there is a similar bug report on launchpad and it has
different bug status-critical. As I wrote, please disable KMS for this
cards(because KMS is enabled by default), if this issue can not be solved
before final release. Not only glxgears and compiz benchmark have poor
performance, but also 3d games, such as openarena, nexuiz and stronghold
crusader(works perfectly under wine). Thank you very much.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 564570] [NEW] Xorg crash

2010-04-16 Thread Michael Audas
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

Ubuntu version: Ubuntu lucid (development branch) 10.04
Package:

Hardware: Intel Corporation 82845G/GL[Brookdale-G]/GE Chipset Integrated
Graphics Device (rev 01)

What I expected to happen: Xserver keeps running without interruption

What happened instead:

After a period of normal operation (using scrotwm in X environment),
xorg crashes to tty7, and then switches to tty1. Other services, such as
wget and mpd, continue to run after this event occurs.

Crash 'seems' to occur at random, and no specific 'triggering' event has
been detected.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 564572] [NEW] no image when booting with GeForce 8400M

2010-04-16 Thread Marius Vasilescu
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-nouveau

Lucid Beta2 (live CD) / Dell Inspiron 1520 / GeForce 8400M GS

After choosing the 'Try Ubuntu without changes on the system', I got for
1-2 seconds a black screen terminal (only the cursor was visible), after
that a weird screen and finally sort of a grey screen. I've attached the
last two screen images.

It switched between terminals, but the display didn't change at all. For
instance, ctrl+alt+f2, sudo reboot, enter, enter = reboots the system.
I found it odd since I thought the terminals didn't use the noveau
driver.

blacklist=vga16fb nouveau.noaccel=1 params didn't work for me. I
couldn't manage to find any workaround..

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 560877] [NEW] Ubuntu crashes. Transmission + MeTV

2010-04-16 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Binary package hint: transmission

For about few month from now my Ubuntu 9.10 crashes during watching TV
or movies. For this time I could not correlate it to something else, but
now I discovered that it happens when Transmission client is running. It
happened 3-4 times yesterday and once today. In all cases Transmission
were running along. Have been watching TV for hours without problems
when Transmission were not running. For TV I use MeTV 1.0.0 and Acorp
DS120 USB DVB-S tuner. System is updated as per 11-Apr-2010.

So, what actually happens: first video stream starts glitching (no
matter in fullscreen or windowed) and in few seconds everything freezes
and goes to black screen. System totally stops responding till I power
off it by pressing and holding power button.

I was not sure what package to relate this problem to, but as I
discovered it happens with Transmission running I posted it here.

Thanks,
Vadim.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 564617] [NEW] Regression : no image when starting lucid beta 2, with Nvidia Geforce6200 NV44A. Error referencing VRAM ctxdma: -12. Worked in alpha 3 and in karmic

2010-04-16 Thread Mossroy
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-nouveau

I can't start the lucid beta 2 liveCD on a computer with a Nvidia GeForce 6200
SE (NV44A rev A1) : the screen stays blank after booting.
It works properly with a lucid alpha 3 liveCD, and with a karmic liveCD.

I managed to install the beta 2 on this computer through the alternate CD : the
behavior is the same when booting on the hard drive.
I installed all the updates (as of 16th april 2040) : same behavior

I experience the precise same behavior with Fedora live : Fedora 12 live
boots correctly (but relies on nv driver), Fedora 13 beta live gives
the same blank screen (and also uses nouveau driver).

I think this is a regression in the nouveau graphic driver : the version
bundled with lucid alpha 3 works, the one with lucid beta 2 (or fedora 13 beta)
does not.
Here is an excerpt of the dmesg on beta 2 :
nouveau :03:00.0: RAMHT space exhausted. ch=0
nouveau :03:00.0: Error referencing VRAM ctxdma: -12
  nouveau :03:00.0: gpuobj -12

This error message does not appear when using lucid alpha 3.

Maybe this is related : before these error lines appear the following lines in
dmesg :
 agpgart-nvidia :00:00.0: AGP 3.0 bridge
agpgart: modprobe tried to set rate=x12. Setting to AGP3 x8 mode.
 agpgart-nvidia :00:00.0: putting AGP V3 device into 8x mode
nouveau :03:00.0: putting AGP V3 device into 8x mode

They appear only in beta 2, not in alpha 3.

My video card is indeed plugged in a AGP port, that supports x8 mode.
The motherboard is a Asus A7N8X-E deluxe and AGP mode x8 is enabled in
the BIOS

2010-04-16 Thread Mossroy
Rarely, the screen doesn't stay blank : I can see the ubuntu logo, and then it
shows a weird screen of grey lines (see attached photo)
It happened only twice, and without changing anything to the configuration,
boot options or BIOS

Also, the first time I started this computer this morning, it reached
the ubuntu desktop, but froze just after (no ctrl-alt-F1 available or
anything).

I have to insist on the fact that I don't have any of these behaviors on
karmic, or in lucid alpha 3, or in fedora 12. I don't think it is caused
by a damaged hardware.
