[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1303739] Re: Casual screen freeze in Xubuntu 14.04

2014-05-04 Thread Unterreiner Martin
Hey,

I had similar problems with random freezes after upgrade Xubuntu from 13.10 to
14.04. on my Desktop PC (Acer Aspire 3100).
Distro: Ubuntu 3.13.0-24.46-generic 3.13.9.

First I thought that the problem causes Xorg, but then I changed my
driver from 331 to 304. With 319 there where the same problems.

Now I got no freezes anymore.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1303739] Re: Casual screen freeze in Xubuntu 14.04

Dear Mr. Penvaler,

the bug is, at least in my case, definitely a duplicate of:

After following a temporary fix given there the freezes have stopped
altogether.

Right, I'm using Mint 16 XFCE which is based on Ubuntu 13.10 AFAIK.
(I don't have much experience with Mint either. I just needed a usable
distribution on my laptop quickly and didn't have time to try much.)

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1314213] [NEW] [Lenovo ThinkPad X220] External DP1 monitor extremely unstable since upgrade to 14.04

2014-05-04 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Since upgrade to 14.04, the external display on DP1 is extremely
unstable. I get constant [drm:intel_dp_i2c_aux_ch] *ERROR* too many
retries, giving up messages over dmesg. I used to get those with 13.10,
but there was no stability issue. Once the laptop (Lenovo X220) is
connected to the monitor (resolution is 2560x1600), if I run any program
like xrandr or unity-control-center, the system immediately reverts from
the external display to the laptop display, and often crashes becoming
unresponsive. Every time I run xrandr or unity-control-center, it
triggers 20 [drm:intel_dp_i2c_aux_ch] *ERROR* too many retries, giving
up messages in dmesg and if I am using the external monitor it further
triggers a reproducible crash. It is possible that this might be related
to the DVI-DP adapter I am using. Due to an unresolved bug, the correct
EDID for the monitor is not recognized, and I have to manually add that
after each boot.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1315899] [NEW] Launcher Auto-hide doesn't hide after Thunderbird opened

2014-05-04 Thread Steve Wilks
Public bug reported:

The Thunderbird Mail program seems to prevent the launcher Auto-Hide
from working. This makes it difficult to read Firefox content. It even
makes the editting of this report difficult, since the launcher gets in
the way of the editting box.

You might also want to know that I have found Compiz incompatible with
Unity, in as much as it causes Unity and the desktop to flicker and
blackout soon after log in. It is sort of 'fixed' by logging out of
Ubuntu 3D, logging into 2D and then relogging in again to 2D. That said
it is very inconvenient, and So I have removed Compiz completely, as I
am content to operate with 2D. in 12.04 LTS

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1231857] Re: [DPMS] Display backlight turns back on almost immediately after being turned off

2014-05-04 Thread Daniel van Vugt
We are focusing all Mir work on the next release, so that means all
new work automatically goes into utopic. While trusty packages are not a
priority for Mir development, we can update them if there's a demand. It
would be per the usual SRU process, but that does require someone
motivated to follow through:

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1247736] Re: nvidia-opencl-icd-* should not conflicts/replaces on opencl-icd

2014-05-04 Thread Damien Boyd
I also ran into this behavior while doing an optimus install on a Sony
Vaio S with Xubuntu 14.04 (Trusty). Following this guide:
http://www.muktware.com/2013/12/install-nvidia-331-bumblebee-optimus-
cards/18271

During the install, nvidia-331 wishes to remove wine1.6-amd64 and
subcomponents thanks to ocl-icd.

Using the following from comment #7: sudo apt-get install ocl-icd-opencl-dev
Then: sudo apt-get install wine1.6-amd64

solves the issue.
