Re: Kannel with vb6
VB 6 is no longer supported and is definitely not VB.net. In any event, if you want to use Kannel on Windows the recommendation is that you use something like Cygwin. Another option is to use Mono to run .Net applications on a Linux box. Not sure if the Mono project compiles VB.Net but I am sure you could find out pretty easily. I am assuming that it does. Third and final option is that you can have a windows application posting to Kannel on a Linux machine. As for examples. There are plenty PHP examples that I have come across. The idea is pretty basic. What ever language you are using, you need to post to a URL that Kannel is listening to. The contents of that URL can be found in the UG. If you want to use kannel and then build your app to sent and receive sms, then yes. Kannel does the conversion of smpp to http awesome, so in reality you can use wathever framework/language you want as long as it can use the http stack. Hope that helps. Hi Marcelo, can u please give me a tutor of how to use kannel and then build my app to send sms, like u said before? Using http stack or whatever it is. I cant find how to do this on the web (not yet, maybe), so if u know about that, please kindly give me some example. I want to use kannel in windows and then build my app in VB.net 2008. My app will do something like sms broadcasting, using several GSM modem (as I have read that kannel supports multiple virtual SMSC). Thanks in advance. *Replies from any others of you who know how to do this is highly expected too. Niko.
Re: dlr issue
You said all MT are DLVRD. Where did you get the statuses? Kannel uses dlr-mask = 1 to flag each DLVRD MT. Your log only said that the dlr-mask was set to 31, which mean it should capture all statuses (please refer to the user guide). And from last part of your log, it said the MT got ACK. None said the MT is DLVRD. sangprabv sangpr...@gmail.com http://www.petitiononline.com/froyo/ On Aug 30, 2010, at 3:14 PM, budi wibowo wrote: hi that's what i got in debug mode and receiver (B#) switched off. any option to get the more detail result? br budi On Mon, Aug 30, 2010 at 12:51 PM, sangprabv sangpr...@gmail.com wrote: I don't see any DLR there :) sangprabv sangpr...@gmail.com http://www.petitiononline.com/froyo/ On Aug 30, 2010, at 12:21 PM, budi wibowo wrote: hi i attache bb log for reference 2010-08-30 11:43:31 [23161] [9] DEBUG: sequence_number: 2 = 0x0002 2010-08-30 11:43:31 [23161] [9] DEBUG: SMPP PDU dump ends. 2010-08-30 11:43:31 [23161] [9] DEBUG: SMPP[smsc4]: throughput (0.00,300.00) 2010-08-30 11:43:31 [23161] [8] DEBUG: SMPP[smsc3]: Got PDU: 2010-08-30 11:43:31 [23161] [8] DEBUG: SMPP PDU 0x9374668 dump: 2010-08-30 11:43:31 [23161] [8] DEBUG: type_name: enquire_link_resp 2010-08-30 11:43:31 [23161] [8] DEBUG: command_id: 2147483669 = 0x8015 2010-08-30 11:43:31 [23161] [8] DEBUG: command_status: 0 = 0x 2010-08-30 11:43:31 [23161] [8] DEBUG: sequence_number: 2 = 0x0002 2010-08-30 11:43:31 [23161] [8] DEBUG: SMPP PDU dump ends. 2010-08-30 11:43:31 [23161] [7] DEBUG: SMPP[smsc2]: Got PDU: 2010-08-30 11:43:31 [23161] [7] DEBUG: SMPP PDU 0x9374668 dump: 2010-08-30 11:43:31 [23161] [7] DEBUG: type_name: enquire_link_resp 2010-08-30 11:43:31 [23161] [7] DEBUG: command_id: 2147483669 = 0x8015 2010-08-30 11:43:31 [23161] [7] DEBUG: command_status: 0 = 0x 2010-08-30 11:43:31 [23161] [7] DEBUG: sequence_number: 2 = 0x0002 2010-08-30 11:43:31 [23161] [7] DEBUG: SMPP PDU dump ends. 2010-08-30 11:43:31 [23161] [7] DEBUG: SMPP[smsc2]: throughput (0.00,300.00) 2010-08-30 11:43:31 [23161] [9] DEBUG: SMPP[smsc4]: throughput (0.00,300.00) 2010-08-30 11:43:31 [23161] [9] DEBUG: SMPP[smsc4]: Got PDU: 2010-08-30 11:43:31 [23161] [9] DEBUG: SMPP PDU 0x9374668 dump: 2010-08-30 11:43:31 [23161] [9] DEBUG: type_name: enquire_link_resp 2010-08-30 11:43:31 [23161] [9] DEBUG: command_id: 2147483669 = 0x8015 2010-08-30 11:43:31 [23161] [9] DEBUG: command_status: 0 = 0x 2010-08-30 11:43:31 [23161] [9] DEBUG: sequence_number: 2 = 0x0002 2010-08-30 11:43:31 [23161] [9] DEBUG: SMPP PDU dump ends. 2010-08-30 11:43:31 [23161] [9] DEBUG: SMPP[smsc4]: throughput (0.00,300.00) 2010-08-30 11:43:41 [23161] [6] DEBUG: SMPP[smsc1]: Got PDU: 2010-08-30 11:43:41 [23161] [6] DEBUG: SMPP PDU 0x9374668 dump: 2010-08-30 11:43:41 [23161] [6] DEBUG: type_name: enquire_link 2010-08-30 11:43:41 [23161] [6] DEBUG: command_id: 21 = 0x0015 2010-08-30 11:43:41 [23161] [6] DEBUG: command_status: 0 = 0x 2010-08-30 11:43:41 [23161] [6] DEBUG: sequence_number: 2 = 0x0002 2010-08-30 11:43:41 [23161] [6] DEBUG: SMPP PDU dump ends. 2010-08-30 11:43:41 [23161] [6] DEBUG: SMPP[smsc1]: Sending PDU: 2010-08-30 11:43:41 [23161] [6] DEBUG: SMPP PDU 0x9374748 dump: 2010-08-30 11:43:41 [23161] [6] DEBUG: type_name: enquire_link_resp 2010-08-30 11:43:41 [23161] [6] DEBUG: command_id: 2147483669 = 0x8015 2010-08-30 11:43:41 [23161] [6] DEBUG: command_status: 0 = 0x 2010-08-30 11:43:41 [23161] [6] DEBUG: sequence_number: 2 = 0x0002 2010-08-30 11:43:41 [23161] [6] DEBUG: SMPP PDU dump ends. 2010-08-30 11:43:41 [23161] [8] DEBUG: SMPP[smsc3]: Got PDU: 2010-08-30 11:43:41 [23161] [8] DEBUG: SMPP PDU 0x9374668 dump: 2010-08-30 11:43:41 [23161] [8] DEBUG: type_name: enquire_link 2010-08-30 11:43:41 [23161] [8] DEBUG: command_id: 21 = 0x0015 2010-08-30 11:43:41 [23161] [8] DEBUG: command_status: 0 = 0x 2010-08-30 11:43:41 [23161] [8] DEBUG: sequence_number: 2 = 0x0002 2010-08-30 11:43:41 [23161] [8] DEBUG: SMPP PDU dump ends. 2010-08-30 11:43:41 [23161] [8] DEBUG: SMPP[smsc3]: Sending PDU: 2010-08-30 11:43:41 [23161] [8] DEBUG: SMPP PDU 0x9374748 dump: 2010-08-30 11:43:41 [23161] [8] DEBUG: type_name: enquire_link_resp 2010-08-30 11:43:41 [23161] [8] DEBUG: command_id: 2147483669 = 0x8015 2010-08-30 11:43:41 [23161] [8] DEBUG: command_status: 0 = 0x 2010-08-30 11:43:41 [23161] [8] DEBUG: sequence_number: 2 = 0x0002 2010-08-30 11:43:41 [23161] [8] DEBUG: SMPP PDU dump ends. 2010-08-30 11:43:41 [23161] [9] DEBUG: SMPP[smsc4]: throughput (0.00,300.00) 2010-08-30 11:43:41 [23161] [9] DEBUG: SMPP[smsc4]: Got PDU: 2010-08-30 11:43:41 [23161] [9] DEBUG: SMPP PDU 0x9374668 dump: 2010-08-30 11:43:41 [23161] [9] DEBUG: type_name: enquire_link 2010-08-30 11:43:41 [23161] [9] DEBUG: command_id: 21 = 0x0015

Throughput setting not honored in smpp 34?
Hi, I am experiencing problems with SMPP 34 and throttling. My set up is the following; I am using ubuntu and dkpg -s kannel reveals: Architecture: amd64 Version: 1.4.3-0ubuntu2 I am connected to 3 different smsc's, all SMPP and all at version 3.4, SMSC A has unlimited messages/s SMSC B has 10 messages/s ( Throughput set to 6 after getting throttling errors at 10, but I am still getting errors ) SMSC C has 10 messages/s ( Throughput set to 6 after getting throttling errors at 10, but I am still getting errors ) I access these three from three different sendsms-user (a,b,c), they have forced-smsc set to A,B and C respectively. One of the three is seldom used(B), the other two are used depending on destination phone_nr. I am getting throttling errors in the logs, and if I check the frequency of sending_pdu this is what I get. 2010-08-30 14:03:08 [32738] [8] DEBUG: SMPP[C]: Sending PDU: 2010-08-30 14:03:08 [32738] [6] DEBUG: SMPP[A]: Sending PDU: 2010-08-30 14:03:08 [32738] [6] DEBUG: SMPP[A]: Sending PDU: 2010-08-30 14:03:08 [32738] [8] DEBUG: SMPP[C]: Sending PDU: 2010-08-30 14:03:08 [32738] [8] DEBUG: SMPP[C]: Sending PDU: 2010-08-30 14:03:08 [32738] [8] DEBUG: SMPP[C]: Sending PDU: 2010-08-30 14:03:08 [32738] [8] DEBUG: SMPP[C]: Sending PDU: 2010-08-30 14:03:08 [32738] [8] DEBUG: SMPP[C]: Sending PDU: 2010-08-30 14:03:08 [32738] [8] DEBUG: SMPP[C]: Sending PDU: 2010-08-30 14:03:08 [32738] [8] DEBUG: SMPP[C]: Sending PDU: 2010-08-30 14:03:08 [32738] [8] DEBUG: SMPP[C]: Sending PDU: 2010-08-30 14:03:08 [32738] [8] DEBUG: SMPP[C]: Sending PDU: 2010-08-30 14:03:08 [32738] [8] DEBUG: SMPP[C]: Sending PDU: 2010-08-30 14:03:08 [32738] [8] DEBUG: SMPP[C]: Sending PDU: 2010-08-30 14:03:08 [32738] [6] DEBUG: SMPP[A]: Sending PDU: 2010-08-30 14:03:08 [32738] [6] DEBUG: SMPP[A]: Sending PDU: 2010-08-30 14:03:08 [32738] [8] DEBUG: SMPP[C]: Sending PDU: 2010-08-30 14:03:08 [32738] [6] DEBUG: SMPP[A]: Sending PDU: 2010-08-30 14:03:08 [32738] [6] DEBUG: SMPP[A]: Sending PDU: 2010-08-30 14:03:08 [32738] [8] DEBUG: SMPP[C]: Sending PDU: during this second there are 6 sms sent to A ( which is ok, no throughput-limit is set ) and 14 sms sent to C which directly goes against througput which is set to 6( seen in the following row that it has accepted my throughput setting ) 2010-08-27 03:35:36 [15936] [0] INFO: Set throughput to 6.000 for smsc id C The setting for B ( and C ) is as following: group=smsc smsc=smpp smsc-id=B allowed-smsc-id=B throughput=6 interface-version=34 host=x.y.z.w port=xy system-id=asdasd smsc-password=asdasd system-type=client01 transceiver-mode=1 The setting for b( and c) is as following: group = sendsms-user username= password= user-deny-ip = *.*.*.* user-allow-ip = x.y.u.z max-messages = 10 concatenation = true forced-smsc = B Is there something I have missed? Meta data parameters in kannel 1.4.3 on RedHat release 5.5
Greetings, I was hoping to get some help from someone who experienced this same issue about the meta-data parameters in kannel version 1.4.3. Our SMS gateway is requiring us to pass a new parameter called program-id to them. From the Kannel documentation, it seems like I need to add a new parameter in the meta-data. So I add that to the kannel.conf file, which then looks like this: (I removed the sensitive info from it). # MT test bind group = smsc smsc = smpp smsc-id = test_outbound allowed-smsc-id = test_outbound preferred-smsc-id = test_outbound host = 123.123.123.123 port = 12557 transceiver-mode = off interface-version = 34 smsc-username = theusername smsc-password = thepassword system-type = address-range = source-addr-ton = 1 source-addr-npi = 1 group = smpp-tlv name = tlv_test tag = 0x2157 length = 6 smsc-id = test_outbound type = octetstring Then I start kannel in debug mode and I obtain this: sudo /usr/local/sbin/bearerbox -v 0 /etc/kannel/kannel.conf 2010-08-30 15:36:00 [19574] [0] INFO: Debug_lvl = 0, log_file = none, log_lvl = 0 2010-08-30 15:36:00 [19574] [0] ERROR: Group 'smpp-tlv' is no valid group identifier. 2010-08-30 15:36:00 [19574] [0] ERROR: Error found on line 219 of file `/etc/kannel/kannel.conf'. 2010-08-30 15:36:00 [19574] [0] PANIC: Couldn't read configuration from `/etc/kannel/kannel.conf'. 2010-08-30 15:36:01 [19574] [0] PANIC: /usr/local/sbin/bearerbox(gw_panic+0x15b) [0x4770db] 2010-08-30 15:36:01 [19574] [0] PANIC: /usr/local/sbin/bearerbox(main+0xa47) [0x40d027] 2010-08-30 15:36:01 [19574] [0] PANIC: /lib64/libc.so.6(__libc_start_main+0xf4) [0x3f30e1d994] 2010-08-30 15:36:01 [19574] [0] PANIC: /usr/local/sbin/bearerbox [0x40bab9] It seems strange that the error refers to the group smpp-tlv not being valid, since the documentation says it should be (http://www.kannel.org/download/kannel-userguide-snapshot/userguide.html#META-DATA) For more info, I am running kannel 1.4.3, (gateway-1.4.3) compiled from source. Re: have some questions
Hi, Kannel provides for HTTP/SMPP connectivity to other SMScs. It even provides text-based configuration of sendsms-user for administrator to manage accounts. It doesn't provide billing or front-end graphical app for creating an managing sendsms-user accounts. This will require hiring a consultant to make them for you. Re: Getting DLR reports for AT SMSC
Hi, I am surprised you are getting *any* DLRs to smsbox at all. You should configure in smsbox-route. As far as your modem goes, everything looks good from your side. Sometimes a DLR might take a few days to come in, depending on mobile availability. If you are sure that the SMS has been delivered, you should contact your SIM provider for your Huawei, and ask them about it. It seems they are not sending you DLRs. Nothing kannel can do about it. The web server for the callback URL was not up at the time of this test, so discard that part. The delivery URL is identical with the one that I use to test Clickatell and it works The log files generated are attached. Do you need additional information or do you see any flow in the configuration? Kind Regards, Gjergji 2010/8/28 Nikos Balkanas nbalka...@gmail.com Nothing different from your http smsc connection. Do you see any DLRs in access log from GSM modem? Please post your configuration and detailed bb logs of a deliver_sm pdu from your GSM modem, with context. I've configured DLR callback with Clickatell (system-type = clickatell) having the smsc variable set to http. This is configured as a separate SMSC and I have no problem with processing DLR. I've configure a HUAWEI E618 Mobile Connect - 3G Modem and can send SMS messages using HTTP Push service. In my current configuration I do not see the dlr-url to be called, when I use the GSM modem, which works when message is routed via clickatell. Do I need to make any specific configuration for the GSM modem smsc in order for the delivery status reports to be processed? Kind Regards, Gjergji 2010/8/28 Nikos Balkanas nbalka...@gmail.com Yes, and it works. Note that using a GSM modem is more reliable than a phone. Some providers do not send DLRs to a phone. But what do you mean by http SMSc? A GSM modem is different than an HTTP smsc. Nevertheless, though my modem driver and network support receiving delivery reports the bearerbox do not process any delivery reports. At page 64 of the User Guide (Feature checklist) or Table 6-2. SMSC driver features I can see that for AT driver the “Can Use DLR” is set to N. Nevertheless, N is set even for http request where the delivery is working fine in my configuration. Do I need to setup some specific processing for the incoming SMS delivery reports retrieved by the AT modem? Has anyone configured delivery reports with Kannel using a modem (AT SMSC driver)? Any hint, guidance? Cheers, Gjergji
Re: Meta data parameters in kannel 1.4.3 on RedHat release 5.5
Hi, Please download latest svn. It should work. BR, Nikos - Original Message - From: Jonathan Zylberberg To: users@kannel.org Sent: Tuesday, August 31, 2010 1:48 AM Subject: Meta data parameters in kannel 1.4.3 on RedHat release 5.5 Greetings, I was hoping to get some help from someone who experienced this same issue about the meta-data parameters in kannel version 1.4.3. So I add that to the kannel.conf file, which then looks like this: (I removed the sensitive info from it). # MT test bind group = smsc smsc = smpp smsc-id = test_outbound allowed-smsc-id = test_outbound preferred-smsc-id = test_outbound host = 123.123.123.123 port = 12557 transceiver-mode = off interface-version = 34 smsc-username = theusername smsc-password = thepassword system-type = address-range = source-addr-ton = 1 source-addr-npi = 1 group = smpp-tlv name = tlv_test tag = 0x2157 length = 6 smsc-id = test_outbound type = octetstring Then I start kannel in debug mode and I obtain this: sudo /usr/local/sbin/bearerbox -v 0 /etc/kannel/kannel.conf 2010-08-30 15:36:00 [19574] [0] INFO: Debug_lvl = 0, log_file = none, log_lvl = 0 2010-08-30 15:36:00 [19574] [0] ERROR: Group 'smpp-tlv' is no valid group identifier. 2010-08-30 15:36:00 [19574] [0] ERROR: Error found on line 219 of file `/etc/kannel/kannel.conf'. 2010-08-30 15:36:00 [19574] [0] PANIC: Couldn't read configuration from `/etc/kannel/kannel.conf'. 2010-08-30 15:36:01 [19574] [0] PANIC: /usr/local/sbin/bearerbox(gw_panic+0x15b) [0x4770db] 2010-08-30 15:36:01 [19574] [0] PANIC: /usr/local/sbin/bearerbox(main+0xa47) [0x40d027] 2010-08-30 15:36:01 [19574] [0] PANIC: /lib64/libc.so.6(__libc_start_main+0xf4) [0x3f30e1d994] 2010-08-30 15:36:01 [19574] [0] PANIC: /usr/local/sbin/bearerbox [0x40bab9] It seems strange that the error refers to the group smpp-tlv not being valid, since the documentation says it should be (http://www.kannel.org/download/kannel-userguide-snapshot/userguide.html#META-DATA) For more info, I am running kannel 1.4.3, (gateway-1.4.3) compiled from source. Operating system is Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 5.5 (Tikanga) (x86_64) And when I run the yum command to find out about the libxml version, this is what I obtain. libxml2.x86_64 2.6.26-2.1.2.8 libxml2-devel.x86_64 2.6.26-2.1.2.8 installed libxml2-python.x86_64 2.6.26-2.1.2.8 Any help will be highly appreciated.
