[videoblogging] Re: videos embedded into emails?
Hello and thanks for the post, I was wondering how does one put the embed HTML into an email? What is the first step to do that? I understand embedding, but If I used the embedding code from a source such as youtube or blip, would it then appear on the email? Thanks for some guidance on this interesting subject. What we found out... in our very very limited test... was that .Mac would display a video in an HTML embed element (in an e-mail). But GMail would not. So... some e-mail and webmail system have absolutely no known way of playing video in e-mail. But some do. I don't know of anyone who has done extensive tests. (We only check .Mac and GMail. So... YMMV.) Feel free to test out other e-mail or webmail systems, and let us know your results. I use Mac Mail, and the video plays in the regular preview pane, embedded in the email. There have been different types of videos - Youtube, Quicktime, which have all played like this - but only from Minnesota Stories, I think. GMail does NOT seem to give me the same result. If it is not too much trouble, would be able to send me a screenshot of it doing it in your e-mail application. Actually... I just looked at the source code of the e-mail message, and there is an HTML embed element in there. (Which would potentially let the video play right in the e-mail.) I guess GMail just blocks it. And Mac Mail doesn't. Hmmm... it would be interesting to see a report of what e-mail clients and webmail services allow HTML embed elements. Unfortunately, Its only for MACS. Why do they do that us? --- In videoblogging@yahoogroups.com, oovooworld [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Hi David, It's not the same as embedding a full-length pre-recorded sample of your work, but ooVoo (free application) lets you send one-minute video messages via email. Maybe you could use it to send a 'taster' example message and then embed a link to your site/a holding page with the work itself? Just an idea. Other than that I have tried this before and not had much luck I'm afraid so would be interested if anyone else has too.

Re: [videoblogging] Re: videos embedded into emails?
OK. It's that Olsen fellow. All the MinnesotaStories.com posts contain videos which play within the email. I subscribe to pretty much everything through RSSFWD, but as far as I can remember, none of the other emails I've received have videos which play within the email. I guess if you go to http://minnesotastories.com/ and View Source and copy however he embeds his videos there, and then put it through feedburner like he does, then you could make it work. Then I bet there's a way to distribute a feed item to a mailing list. Perhaps using Feedblitz instead of RSSFWD Haven't got time to work it all out, now. But there it is.
