As a Telugu Wikimedian, I'm delighted to see our user group get recognition
as an affiliate. We submitted our application to AffCom in August 2022, and
since then, the Telugu Wikimedia Community has made remarkable leaps in
defining its strategic direction. On this occasion, I'd like to share some
insights into our work in this area.

Our community, the Telugu Wikimedia Community, organized a community-wide
conference. This event, enriched by studies, discussions, and
consultations, focused on assessing the quality and status of our projects,
as well as identifying the opportunities and challenges that lay ahead.
These efforts resulted in a strategic document that now guides the Telugu
Wikimedia Community's initiatives. The user group has enthusiastically
begun to undertake activities and projects aligned with this strategic
direction.

Incidentally, this announcement comes just days before the Ugadi Festival,
"Telugu New Year," which is a significant festival in Telugu culture,
lending an even sweeter note to this news.

We are happy to announce that there is now a free and publicly accessible
course on the learning platform, WikiLearn, on how to upload and edit files
on Wikimedia Commons using OpenRefine: *OpenRefine for Wikimedia Commons:
the basics*

OpenRefine  is a free
data-wrangling tool that can be used to process, manipulate, and clean
tabular (spreadsheet) data and connect it with knowledge bases, including
Wikidata and Wikimedia Commons.

This online course is available at any time, for free. Anyone with a
Wikimedia account can enroll with the click of a button. It can be followed
at your own pace, with computer-graded exercises. A certificate is awarded
at the end to those who complete the course.

The training is suitable for Wikimedians, Wikimedia affiliate staff, and
partners (e.g. GLAM staff and Wikimedians in Residence). Accomplishing the
course should take an average of 6 to 8 hours.

This course was developed as part of the Wikimedia Foundation's training

Thank you. I wasn't aware of the PAWS project. I just added a hyperlink to it 
in the Wikinotebooks project proposal:

I will attempt to build upon and improve upon the existing PAWS project and 
concepts and I can add some specifically comparative and contrastive content 
between the two projects in the Wikinotebooks proposal.

In any event, the good news is that there is an experienced team with respect 
to installing, maintaining, and operating Jupyter backend software components 
on Wikimedia Cloud.
