You specify a DEFINE DRIVE command while you refer to /dev/smc0 which is a

It's possibly that it is not those tapes that are inaccessable but
rather the tape that holds the same data in the primary pool. Assuming

Is it possible to share a 3584 Library (FC-LTO2) between a TSM
server(5.1.9.3) on AIX433 and a AS400. Do you need to do
partitioning(and loose an entire drive to the AS400) or can you just

Can the AS400 use the drive as if it was locally attached
We back up our AS400 with BRMS and TSM.
Check this out. It works fine for us.

Hi
1. Yes, you can share a 3584-L32 library
between one or more iSeries servers and a pSeries server, but it will require

Yes Curtis, this is one of the performance
issues i mentioned. TSM also acts in a similar way when doing backups.
The data is not directly sent to TSM from BRMS, rather cached and then
sent. This is a performance impact as well. This is probably why you have

Currently, BRMS has a 3494 and TSM has its own (in different locations). We are

Even if they have overflow on them, the move data should work

You might have to return the tapes and run an audit vol. on them.

When you use a 3494 you already *have* a library manager.
Just allocate different categories for AS400 and TSM.
I had a 3 bay 3494 with two 3590E drives SCSI connected to an AS400 and 4 drives

Worked fine. Just had to do a little operator training to sort out
