Frank, The procedure to define disk based volumes has not changed, so you're right ! You could eventually get a rid of the dsmfmt blah . step while using : define volume stgpool_name path formatsize=xxxxxx being the size in MB you want for your volume. Hope this helped ... Cheers.

Talk to the person who manages the firewall. It is common for firewall software to have its own idletimeout value. If a session goes quiet for a time, the firewall terminates the session. And it is not uncommon for TSM backups to exceed the firewall timeout value - can happen easily if TSM
