Hi *SM-ers!
We have got one TDP for SQL (5.2.1) client which refuses to cooperate.
It's configured like all other TDP clients with a standard dsm.opt file
which contains the correct TCPServeraddress. However, as soon as we
start the TDP GUI, it returns:
ANS1033E (RC-53) An invalid TCP/IP address
Hello Eric,
have you checked that your MS SQL host is able to resolve the TCP
Hostname of the TSM server?

Hi all,
I'm having this error Unable to open drive mt6.0.0.1 error no=170 after I
backup 3 clients.
Currently the TSM server 5.3.2 is running on Win2003 server and the 3584
tape library while the clients run on AIX5.1. There are 4 tape drive path
define connected with 2 SAN switch.
Hi
What ultrium driver versions are you using?
We had this problem after upgrading the ultrium device drivers to
6.1.1.2. We had to roll back to 6.0.8.2.
Ensure that the CPF and DPF functions are disabled in the registry by
using the scripts if you are not using this function.
Hi Ian,
I'm using 6.1.2.7. Will try on the solution below.
Thanks,
Regards,

You are on a much later device driver so I would try disabling the
failover functions first before you roll back.
Wehen we did this it resolved the problem straight away. We also had
major server stability issues, where the server would blue screen and
only be recovered by ASR.

Hi Rainer!
Like I stated in my post: The TSM server listed in the dsm.opt file is
pingable from this client, so it's not a DNS related issue.

Hi Zareyna,
Like Ian said go back to the 6.0.8.2 driver. If you look through the
README's of the later drivers you will find that they are build for the
new TS-series libraries.
Met vriendelijke groet, with kind regards,

What could be causing a few clients of mine to be hanging after a few
minutes into a backup some days and not other days? I have a majority
of clients that run without any problems, using Window, AIX , HP-UX,
Solaris. Does Tivoli performance tuning need to be looked at? If so,
what?

* Have you reviewed dsmerror.log and dsmsched.log
* Do you use precmd processing
* Do this clients have millions and millions of files for TSM to check
* Is there any other overnight processing eating up all available CPU/Ios

1) What type of encryption is used for Tivoli passwords stored in
the Windows Registry?
Currently DES-56 is used.
2) If a password is set for the Tivoli Encryption on a node, can

Don't forget to formulate a tracking Subject title for postings. I
invented an indicative name for this thread.
We haven't heard from LTO customers on this, so I'll throw in some
hypotheticals...
Drives and tapes deteriorate over time, so some of what you're seeing
can be expected; but
