Looks like there is no easy way to do a restore to different hardware. What
happens if there is a disaster and you cannot get your 5 year old server
from anywhere. How is TSM going to restore to that server! To me it looks
like TSM is very good at taking backups and managing them but in the
, passwords, access lists,
SW installation media,
SW installation and configuration description,
a n d quite naturally a copy of hardware as well.

We have TSM server 4.1.2.0 and the client is 4.1.1. We were trying to
migrate a database server to a new server with different hardware. There
were some issues and some of the applications did not work correctly. So we
had to revert back to the old one. Now while the new server was running

always calculated as 2 ^ x where x=0...infinity. I believe every calculation
in software is done using the power of 2. 1000 could be used by sales as
others suggested but how come they justify 1000 kb is bigger than 1024 kb !

We are a NT shop. We do not have DRM either. Currently we make copies of
all the tapes that were written to and ship them offsite. We also make a
copy of TSM database and ship it offsite. Similarly volhist and devconfig
files are written to our west coast servers daily and backed up.
Try powering off and then powering on the drives, or the whole library.
Works for me most of the time.
