Can anyone tell me how they defined their sequential FILE devclass and
how the underlying hardware is setup? It seems like the best way to do
this is to have multiple physical disks and spread the TSM volumes

Has anyone had the opportunity to run both the IBM 3584 library and the
ADIC Scalar i2000 library?
I am trying to decide between these two libraries when I replace my

Also has anyone integrated an ADIC Pathlight VX into their TSM
architecture and how did that go?
Has anyone run into this message before?

Subject: TSM Node Summary
Hello
Depending on your disk pool media, it is almost always faster to send a DB
backup to tape because of the size and single-threadedness of most DB
backups. All our MS-SQL and DB2 backups are in a class that forces direct to
tape and they tend to be 400-800% faster than diskpool would be for the same
and of course each of these parts has a different number and price depending
on whether this is a TSM Standard or TSM Extended edition install. All
clients (servers) to a TSM Extended server cost quite a bit more.

I have had the best luck with the AIX systems, they always work.
I prefer using UNIX as a server because of the flexibility for scripting and

AIX has the best device coverage of the UNIX
Does anyone know where to get the kernel-2.4.9-31.i386.rpm for redhat 7.2?
All the sites I have checked only have the much newer kernels and associated
dependencies.
I even checked the source rpm's and the oldest I could get was 2.4.9-34.
Has IBM said anything about releasing newer tape drivers?
has anyone deployed TSM from a B50 or a 43p 140 ?
I need to back up about 4 GB a night on a local network from 2 clients and
maintain a total tape pool of about 2.5 TB on about 100,000 objects or less.

Log files are absolutely required if you are performing online backups.
