Are you actually running the expire inventory command to delete these files
from your tape? It is possible that this has been turned off. Try running
it by hand and see what happens.

You could also do a Q PATH command and make sure all of those are on-line.

I hate to spam the list, but
I had heard from a support call that 5.1.5.2 was the one to be at for
stability sake. Issues with 5.1.5.3 .4. I believe .6 is out now as well,
but not sure on it.

You need to use the 32bit version of TSM 5.1..not the 64 bit.

We've been running for about a month at 5.1.1. Only issue we have
encountered was with Windows 2000 and doing archives using alternate
management classes. Other than that, it's worked great.

doesn't look like it will buy you enough, and reducing / and
/usr only buys you 1.8gb (unless they're mirrored). Add the 2gb you have
free to that, and it looks like you're short.
Short version..you need more disk.

Running BRMS to a TSM server is EXTREMELY slow (3.5gb/hr here). What I've
been told by Tivoli folks is that TSM Server 5.1.5 is supposed to make this
100 times faster.

Hello,
I have done these 3 steps successfully
Under TSM Server 4.1, we experienced approx. 3mb/sec..not acceptable in our
world so we didn't implement it. You also have to have BRMS in order to
make it work. Our IBM business partner also recommended against
implementing for the same reasons.

Again, if all disks are available, I believe adding them to a volume group
will initialize your disks. Seems to me that I've seen this before when
disks came from IBM with previous data on them. They may need to be
formatted.

Are your files getting deleted from the server in which they are being
backed up?? If not, this would explain it. The 7 days is only if the file
has been deleted.

The volume name is case sensitive, and you only need to delete the 1st one
of a set for all of them to disappear.
My command that I used was delete volhistory todate=xx/xx/
type=backupset vol=xx force=yes and it seemed to work.
