I've done this last week, only in the other way (storage to I/O). It only worked after the TSM server was bounced. Had you tried an AUDit LIBRary?

hi Yes you can but you have to define new drive in the devcnfg.out file according to the new tape drive specifications if both the tape drives are compatible. while restoring the database TSM will check for devcnfg.out file and connects to the tape drive for restoring. thanks, crc -Original
