Short answer is that RMAN does the deletes. You have to have DBA setup an RMAN script to do this. Ideally run it daily and you won't have your tapes consumed by the undeleted data. You probably need to be at least at Oracle 8.1.7.4 or so as earlier versions had problems deleting etc. Your

I have a 3584 that we are swapping in in place of a 3583. It has four Ultrium2 drives in it, the 3583 has Ultrium1. The tapes from the 3583 are all checked in, but when I try to use the drives it complains that there are no mount points available. I think this is because of the device class. The
