Sorry for the additional email, but according to bug #183917 and my own
personal experience, libflashsupport is buggy and causes crashes. The
correct solution can be found on the ubuntu forums at

glitch has been fixed in the upstream packages since (IIRC) the 5th of
July, so I didn't know if they were going to filter down to the current
packages.

Try adding:
Option AGPSize 64
to your devices section in xorg. conf. I had this problem when there
wasn't enough video memory to make textures large enough to hold my
entire workspace in.

connected before it has obtained an IP address for the system (so the
network is not yet usable for IPv4)

I can confirm Simon's problem. It's not on startup, it locks gnome-panel
hard when clicked on. Perhaps I've found a new bug?

didn't pull it along. Considering libflashsupport is required for
pulseaudio support (installing it fixed things for me) and 8.04 uses

I can confirm this too under Hardy. Under Gnome, the ipod shows up in
the desktop but neither rhythembox or Amarok (which is my default) show
up. Once I eject the ipod through nautilous, the partition is unmounted,

flashplugin-nonfree wasn't installed at all. Then, when firefox asked to
install it, the installer bombed out because of a bug (I think because when I

Sorry, I mispoke. I was running feisty at the time. I've upgraded to
gutsy since then. If I remember right, I think it was a packaging
problem and nm-vpn-properties didn't get installed. When I manually
installed it, I believe the problem went away.
