My apologies, it seems that I lied. I still had ttf-bitstream-vera
installed locally on my second machine so after removing that it does
fail to find Vera.ttf. So those values will likely have to be patched
to use the DejaVu fonts.

it appears that, that is because the binaries have been
renamed to grace6, gracebat6, etc.
Another option might be for me to remove grace and add a Provides for
grace in grace6 with proper symlinks?
