既定だとテンプレートファイルを探すときにそのディレクトリが使われると
思います。
ただ、もしかするとKDEをお使いでしょうか?
コードを見てみると、KDE5バックエンドではテンプレートのディレクトリの
扱いが既定と違うような気がしています。

以下のように脆弱性情報(CVE-2018-14939)が公開されておりますが、ユーザーは特に
何か対応する必要はないそうです。
報告されたバッファーオーバーランを利用したアタックは不可能だと考えられるため、
不具合ではないとされています。

LibreOfficeの開発についてのメーリングリストで、Tomažさんが以下のように
"Input Method Status"という(ほとんどの場合表示されていない)メニューを無くす
という提案をしています。
このメニューを有効にすると、入力メソッドの状態を表示するウィンドウが出るそう
です。
実際にはIIIMPの場合だけしか対応されていないので、このメニューを無くしても問題
ないと考えられますが、他にご意見がありましたら返信ください。

ユーザープロファイルの破損だったようです。お騒がせしました。
LibO 5.3から、ユーザープロファイルを一時的に無視する機能(セーフモード)があり、
こういったデバッグに便利です。
メニューの"ヘルプ" > "セーフモードで再起動"からアクセスするか、
LibOを"--safe-mode"オプション付きで起動するとセーフモードになります。
ご存知かもしれませんが、念のため。
