[Bug 279164] www/qt6-webengine fails to build using poudriere on 14.1-STABLE amd64 with fatal error: 'chrome/grit/generated_resources.h' file not found
https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=279164 Jason E. Hale changed: What|Removed |Added CC||jh...@freebsd.org Status|New |Open Flags|maintainer-feedback?(kde@Fr |maintainer-feedback+ |eeBSD.org) | --- Comment #2 from Jason E. Hale --- I had to add in a few missing deps in build systems of the chromium-based ports, including qt6-webengine to fix the build with ninja-1.12.0 when we were doing the exp-run for that. This particular error didn't pop up for me in testing for any of the chromium-based ports, however. Maybe a few more problems cropped up with ninja 1.12.1. It could be due to the number of make jobs, version of ninja, or non-default options. I do want to rule out a few things, because I merged Qt-6.7.0 into quarterly which still has ninja 1.11.1. Just a few questions to help me figure out when this occurs and try to reproduce: Do you have ALLOW_MAKE_JOBS=yes or some for of ALLOW_MAKE_JOBS_PACKAGES="qt6-webengine" in poudriere.conf? If so, what was the MAKE_JOBS_NUMBER used to build? Which version of ninja are you building with? Are you using the default options for qt6-webengine? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

FreeBSD has an exceptionally consistent, elegant, and efficient entirely text based interface which comprises the base system. People will be astonished after a graphical bootloader then graphical installer drops them into a text interface after installing the system. To be clear, this is amazing work and I hope all of our graphical downstreams are collaborating and using it. But, there's not a lot of spaces left for people who need a moderm advanced operating system, not a toy, and prefer TUI. This has always been one of those spaces. Thanks everyone, and sorry to speak up in a critical way. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

Goggling the error message I found this: https://github.com/brave/brave-browser/issues/1112 While the solution there is not correct for our case, maybe it can work as an inspiration. I tried to apply it to the devtools component but it did not help. But since I know nothing about the chromium build system my attempt was probably flawed. [Bug 279170] /etc/termcap.db -> /usr/share/misc/termcap.db missing?
https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=279170 Bug ID: 279170 Summary: /etc/termcap.db -> /usr/share/misc/termcap.db missing? Product: Base System Version: CURRENT Hardware: Any OS: Any Status: New Severity: Affects Only Me Priority: --- Component: misc Assignee: b...@freebsd.org Reporter: ja...@catflap.org I was looking at a ktrace dump file recently (/bin/ls) and noticed that during initialisation, it attempted to read /etc/termcap.db - as that failed, it then read the text version pointed to by /etc/termcap Adding a link: /etc/termcap.db -> /usr/share/misc/termcap.db caused subsequent runs to use the termcap.db version. Is there any reason why /etc/termcap is linked, whilst /etc/termcap.db isn't? And if so, what's the purpose of /usr/share/misc/termcap.db ? [Bug 279154] loader.efi shows wrong kernel name, but boots correct kernel
https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=279154 Bug ID: 279154 Summary: loader.efi shows wrong kernel name, but boots correct kernel Product: Base System Version: Unspecified Hardware: Any OS: Any Status: New Severity: Affects Only Me Priority: --- Component: kern Assignee: b...@freebsd.org Reporter: free...@kumba.dev NOTE: This is with FreeBSD 14.1-BETA2 I am not 100% on this yet, but I think I am seeing a bit of a visual bug in loader.efi. On an Intel NUC8i5BEH, I build and use a custom kernel that is installed to /boot/kernel.custom. In /boot, I create two symlinks: - "GENERIC" which points at /boot/kernel - "CUSTOM" which points at /boot/kernel.custom In /boot/loader.conf, I set these three variables: > kernels="CUSTOM GENERIC" > kernel="CUSTOM" > bootfile="/boot/kernel.custom/kernel" Under 14.0-RELEASE, the boot menu would show for Item #6, this text: > 6. Kernel: default/CUSTOM (X of Y) But under 14.1-BETA2, I see this: > 6. Kernel: default/GENERIC (X of Y) Which shouldn't happen, because the default kernel is the first element in the 'kernels' variable. However, despite what the menu shows, the correct kernel, pointed at by "CUSTOM", is what is booted (likely because of the setting of the 'kernel' variable or the bootfile variable). So I think this could be just a visual bug, but I am not 100% certain at the moment. I haven't updated a system using the classic BIOS loader yet to see if it's got the same bug. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

[Bug 279138] NFS and NFSUPG and BUFWAIT
https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=279138 --- Comment #4 from Rick Macklem --- (In reply to dgilbert from comment #2) "fileid changed" normally occurs when multiple NFS clients have the same /etc/hostid (due to cloning of system images or ???). This will confuse the server, since it will think the clients are the same client. If you have multiple clients doing NFSv4 mounts, make sure each one of them has a unique /etc/hostid. (If your NFS mounts are NFSv3, I do not have an explanation for "fileid changed". Long ago it was caused by a weird broken NFS cache device, but I doubt any of those still exists.) If your clients all have unique /etc/hostid's (and had them at mount time), and you still see problems, you could try reverting this commit: fbe965591f8a I don't see how it could cause a hang, but it is the only recent change related to directory reading. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

[Bug 262895] access(2) man page should mention softlinks
https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=262895 --- Comment #7 from Jamie Landeg-Jones --- (In reply to Dag-Erling Smørgrav from comment #6) Fair enough. Obviously, even in my use case, there could be a potential race condition, so I suppose its use as an existence test can only be considered to give historical information. Might it be an idea when you remove that line to suggest in its place what would be the best alternative to use? I think some people will be more likely to follow the security advice if they are given an alternative! -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
[Bug 279138] NFS and NFSUPG and BUFWAIT
https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=279138 --- Comment #3 from Konstantin Belousov --- The first LoR looks as a false positive, mostly. It is readdirplus doing scan of the directory, and then querying the attributes of each found entry' node, except dotdot. So the lock order is parent vnode -> (it's buffers) -> child vnode, as expected by VFS. I said "mostly" because server can do the directory move like from A->B to B->A while client is not aware, and I am not completely sure that our client- side invalidations would avoid tricking in this situation. But this is very unlikely. For the second LoR, nfsupg->bufwait, the reported order is right. I wonder where the reversed order was recorded. That said, to diagnose the problem, you need to gather the information listed in the developer's handbook, debugging kernels, debugging deadlocks: https://docs.freebsd.org/en/books/developers-handbook/kerneldebug/#kerneldebug-deadlocks -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

You are compiling Firefox with option LTO, which has been broken since Rust's last update. The new Rust indeed relies on LLVM 18, which apparently produces LTO output unrecognized by LLVM 17. Two possible workarounds: - Either disable LTO and rebuild. - Or keep LTO, and alter bsd.gecko.mk so that LLVM 18 is used. I'm writing this from a Firefox recently built with the second alternative. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

maintainer-feedback requested: [Bug 279139] security/kleopatra: Fix build against libc++ 18
Bugzilla Automation has asked freebsd-kde (group) for maintainer-feedback: Bug 279139: security/kleopatra: Fix build against libc++ 18 https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=279139 --- Description --- Kleopatra uses unique() on std::shared_ptr, which is deprecated and is by default not exposed by libc++ 18. Fortunately, the latter defines a new macro, _LIBCPP_ENABLE_CXX20_REMOVED_SHARED_PTR_UNIQUE, allowing to recover that member function. Source code modification submitted upstream at: https://invent.kde.org/pim/kleopatra/-/merge_requests/205 Thanks and regards.
