Hi, so i was having trouble w/ my tape-changing stuff... then i realized that i should probably be using chg-zd-mtx instead of chg-multi (i hope i'm right... i'm running a spectra 12000c tape-changer... it's got 30 slots and two tape drives). anyway, now that i've switched, amanda will no longer

Ok, thanks everyone for the help, amanda just succussfully backed up my computer to the tape! now i have to go about to the actual configuration of how i want to do the whole backup system... i'm completely new to backups so i'm not really sure what the best way to go about this is done,

I use dump on some of my backup clients just fine. Anyways, to answer your last question, it is normal for amanda to use one tape device. I am only aware of Amanda allowing one tape device specifed for the amanda.conf file. Unless you want to use more than one amanda configuration file for your
