Hi every one i got to work this out how to use G1 as a modem i can
tell you step by step:
1. Download Tetherbot to phone
2. Open Tetherbot on the phone, where it says Port Bouncer on Tunnel:
localhost Port to forward to: 1080
3. Download and install the Android SDK for your computer
All you need is just to download the FoxyProxy program for FireFox and
it is easy to connect fallow the steps from http://graha.ms/androidproxy/

I got it to work using FoxyProxy. As several people have pointed out,
the default firefox proxy will not work.
btw, it's pretty slow when it does work, so this is more for
occasional internet access than a permanent replacement for your home
internet connection. But if you're near a T-Mo
There is a better discussion about this on the official thread here:

Firefox proxy *does* work, must set network.proxy.socks_remote_dns to
true in about:config.
FoxyProxy needs this set as well in the general config.

OK. I can confirm that Tetherbot still works on RC30 using Safari on
Mac OS X 10.5.5. In fact, I am reading and posting to this thread with
my laptop's (and my G1's) wireless connection disabled, and my only
connection through USB to the phone. The 3G is not super fast, but
adequate.
Note that
Hi cobra,
I have a Mac OS X laptop, and I got it to work with the G1 using my
wireless router. I haven't tried it with an actual T-Mobile

The website at http://graha.ms/androidproxy/ has the directions (as
follows):
* Install the app on your android phone, by clicking here (from
your phone browser of course)
You might have to change your settings to permit apps that don't
come from the Google Market by going to your home
Does anyone notice that the new RC30 update disallows this tethering
practice along with its main purpose of shutting down root access (jail
breaking)?
