The easiest plug and play I have ever seen is the 3com line-up. For a
small shop, a V3000 kicks butt and is priced rather well. Probably
cheaper than getting a consultant to install and maintain an asterisk
based solution. No echo issues either.
Thanks,
Steve

Subject: [asterisk-biz] full-featured IP-PBX
HI;
Can anyone introduce me full-featured , hardware based IP-PBX
I got the earlier ones from the Grandstream web site with later ones from
www.voip-info.org, the lastest is 1.1.1.14 (which I wouldn't recommend)
I am running 1.1.1.13 which is fine.
The original problem was upgrading from earlier versions to later ones,
you have to run a specific version before
Yikes!
Asking that sort of question around here might get you cyberlynched!
I might as well say the same thing everyone else will. Why? Asterisk does
everything the proprietary hardware ones do and then some and usually does
it better.
Depends on what you need it for as well. For a small
We've put together a commercial grade platform running Asterisk. Have a

Well before you go look at that, the Mitel is available at reconditioned
prices (which means there is a lot of used systems out there). Just the
cabinet will set you back $800 (ie. the price of a PC)
As an Asterisk/PC vendor the only place where Asterisk is uncompetative is
in the 1 to 2 lines and
I just wanted to let the asterisk community know that NuFone has delivered
service to us where others (Broadvoice, PlainVoIP and TxLink to name a very
few) have failed.
We have been working on a complex PBX integration project at health care
facility in Texas for way too long now. After failed
Please look at EdgeBOX (www.edgebox.net http://www.edgebox.net/ and
http://www.edgebox.net/opencms/opencms/resources.html.) using Asterisk with
QoS. EdgeBOX is office-in-a-box SW runs on a COTS. All updates are done

Henry,
No argument from me about price/competitiveness etc. I can't agree with you
on using Trixbox and Grandstream phones on consumer grade PC's though! That
is NOT the right solution for even a semi serious small business IMHO.

I would have agreed with you up until a few months ago. The GXP 2000 phone
with version 1.1.1.13 is very stable and compares very well with the
Aastra and even better with the Polycom. The generic PC (3.2 ghz 1 gig
memory)
is fine and in this case is using a Digium TDM card with 4 FXO ports. I'm

Then when Greg got stumped with a Zaptel configuration issue, the
notorious JerJer was brought in. After he grumbled about our
configuration (we did make samples), Jeremy cleaned things up
immensely and made the system purr. I have learned quite a lot from
him, even with his direct,

I would like to echo many of the positive comments recommending using
Asterisk as an ipPBX.
I've deployed many of these system for clients from 10 phones to 100+
phones. Some with one location and others with many locations. Some
with VoIP only and others as ahybrid ipPBX with both
I'll second that. Thirdlane is an easy product to deploy with excellent
management features.
