This sounds like a clever way to solve my problem.
But, in the meanwhile, I've already implemented this programatically
from agi script, solving also another requirement I had which was to
limit the number of calls during a certain period (to avoid malicious
sip uri calls flooding the pbx)

My understanding is that the SIP
You can set some kind of counter in the dial plan, call an AGI script,
use func_odbc to make database calls, or otherwise achieve this
programatically.
