Recently, I have a strange awesome startup behavior.
I start x using startx. Then I do
killall twm awesome
Now, awesome does nothing, but as soon as I press Ctrl-c (because I want
to kill it), it starts up correctly ...
What could be wrong? I can I find out more about the problem?
I am on
I can not install using the package manager because I do not have
root-access.
That is why I am installing using configure, make, make install.
And that is why I am looking for a source package of xcb-shm.

FYI you can use 'dpkg-deb -x' to extract the contents of .deb archives
under your directory of liking, e.g.
mkdir ~/sfw dpkg-deb -x /path/to/some.deb ~/sfw
will unpack some.deb under ~/sfw.
Or maybe can use --root=dir | --admindir=dir | --instdir=dir options of dpkg.
