Subject: ABS Sci/Reg SIG meeting in Boston: Request for Presentation Proposals

Dear ABS Science and Religion SIG Members and Friends:

Our upcoming ABS Sci/Reg SIG meeting in Boston at this year's ABS Annual Conference is partly experimental and partly an interesting new development.

The ABS Sci/Reg SIG is for everyone, not just academics and scholars. But, it is a balancing act as well.  We need to accommodate the sometimes more specialized interests of graduate students, professors, experts and their friends.

Our conference session this year (Thursday, August 11th, 2005) aims at acheiving the balance by having both general purpose talks (we are asking people to review books) and specialized talks (graduate students, professionals, etc) that are open to all.

But, we need people to review books and prepare specialized talks. If you haven't done so before, we encourage you to be a first timer by reading a book on science and religion or a related topic and reporting on it. Or, if you want to explore a more difficult topic, now is a good time to share.  If you are seasoned presenter, let us hear from you.

The catch is that we need to know about it soon: ABS North America has given us submission deadline in the middle of May and we need your proposal - a title, short abstract, and bio info - by or before May 14th.  You can write the presentation later and even ask for our help if you want it.

For more details, or to send your talk proposal (see submission instructions below), contact:

A submission consist of an abstract of your talk (100-250 words), a brief biographical statement (please include academic affiliations and experience) and your contact information (address, email, and a daytime phone number).

The deadline for submitting proposals is Saturday 14 May, 2004. Assistance from the ABS Science and Religion SIG is available in the preparation of abstract or developing presentations.
