I have problems to install grub on a second ide drive and then boot from
this drive as first ide drive.
Setup is a PC104-Box with one ide hard-drive connected to it as /dev/hda.
then I put a microdrive in the pcmcia-adapter copy my system on this and
want to install grub on this drive.

can parse the /boot/gru/menu.lst file at run-time, why not just modify
that configuration file and restore it from the startup script?

Perhaps there was something wrong by installation.
In principal you only must have the current stage2 file,
and if you are not using stage 1.5, you must reinstall GRUB with
the setup command inside GRUB.
