Hi all,
I noticed that -tao mode is no longer working on my hardware since
cdrecord-prodvd-2.01b31-i686-pc-linux-gnu
Everything worked fine with a previous version. Here is my system:
P3 933MHz running gentoo (current).

I think the burner doesn't handle that media properly. AFAICT the Sony
510 isn't so hot when it comes to compatibility with a lot of different
media.
The SONY DRU-530A is
Hi,
I updated the firmware to 1.1a (from 1.0d). Same problem.
I checked some older DVDs I wrote and there are a couple of Sankey DVD-R
that give the same media info, but don't show this error.
Tried with older dvd+rw-tools which I used at that time, same error.
One thing left to do : try

Hi group,
Using either cdrecord or cdrdao under 2.4.27 or 2.6.8 will not achieve
burning speeds of 24x (as promised). The specs say my drive (Toshiba

says it will burn 24x, but
This is formally impossible state, blank DVD-RW in Sequential mode
with lead-out at less than 4.7GB...
It's possible that the media are faulty. cdrecord-pro and Nero don't
like them much either. But I have the same problem with normal DVD-R's
that cdrecord-pro and Nero write perfectly fine.
I've got a problem with dvd+rw-tools (version 5.21.4.10.8-1)
on amd64, gcc3-4:
If I try to write an 8x DVD-R (Verbatim), then the writer
(LG GSA-4082B, firmware A208) starts with 4x as expected,
but later it drops to some arbitrary value (about 2x).
After a while it goes up to 4x again, but it
Now I try to burn a subsequent session in incremental mode:
#growisofs -M /dev/hdd -root backup-2004-10-22-10:43 -old-root
backup-2004-10-22-10:36 -quiet -R -D -exclude-list /tmp/backup.exclude
-graft-points home/nason=home/nason
output:
Executing 'mkisofs -C 16,407824 -M /dev/fd/3 -root
thank you very much for this hint, it was very helpful!
a little addition to your meaning about the interoperatibily of the restore-mechanism:

I have written a multisession data DVD+R with Nero Burning ROM 6.3. Then I
haven't added any more session and I have closed the disc with Pinnacle
Instant CD/DVD 8 OEM. The content of this disc is accessible without any
problem under Windows 2000. Under Linux, when I try to mount the disc

Hi,
does anybody know if and when DVD writers for the -R format with double

Thanks for a hint.
