Thanks for all the suggestions. In the end I snagged a simple 12 VDC power supply off eBay for under $10 and a cheap extension cord from Walmart. So for less than $20 I cobbled up this: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1HWvG61PBQLb3oAdh7smmxiQGOnQQTqWa/view?usp=sharing Works great. Puts out 12

General warning on power supplies: Do NOT use them to charge batteries unless you confirm they can do that. The way some of them regulate the output will cause them to burn up if connected to a battery. Joe Della Barba Coquina C 35 MK I Kent Island MD USA Thanks to all of the subscribers that

Hi, Yes, ATX computer power supplies are great and easy to get free. I scavenged a few that we were throwing out at work (Rosewell RD600N-2DB-SL-BK). It provides 12V with a max current of 44A. I use the PS to power my Yeasu FT-891 HF SSB transceiver when I bring it home from the boat.

Dennis, I scavenged a power supply from an old desktop computer.  Well controlled 5V and +/-12V.  The one that I scavenged was a 300W supply.  I use it to run my Garmin Chartplotter during the off season to download trip data.  Computer power supplies are incredibly cheap and the power

I suggest getting an older style computer adapter (pre-USB C). They are usually 50 or 60 Watts and sometimes 12 volt (24V versions are also available). For example, we used this one: https://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/108-ADP-66CRBE to supply power for a small heating pad control system at

I have something similar that came with my boat. PO was a live aboard and was plugged into shore power. Rather than running most of his 12v items off house batteries, he plugged the 12v power supply into a 110 outlet onboard and powered the 12v side of the panel (lights, propane solenoid, bilge

I've found 12-volt supplies in thrift shops - quite often an old Radio Shack product. In some cases with variable output. You could also use an un-regulated supply (a 'wall wart') that you should be able to find in the same place for just a couple dollars. Combine with a terminal strip and even

Dennis, I would get a 120 VAC to 12VDC adapter like this: https://amzn.to/3Gjb4AN, and a terminal block . Snip the DC plug off, strip the wires, use a multimeter to determine polarity, and then wire it to the distribution block. You could throw a fuse in line if you're
