I used the latest FDOM, added the desting feed and did an opkg
upgrade but now all the launchers are missing although the .desktop
files still exist in /usr/share/applications. Any idea how to fix it?

I must admit I never tried 2007.2 - but the things I read about it
suggested that it also wasn't very stable - people recommended using
Qtopia if you wanted a stable phone experience.

I put OM2008.9 in the flash this afternoon. It did not make me happy:
it suffers from the same problem as when I run it from uSD: plugging
in the USB when it's running makes the FR die.

1. The touchscreen calibration is fine when the screen is in
normal rotation, to left or to right but if it's upside down then
the calibration goes way off for me. When I click somewhere the
action actually takes place above and to the right of the actual
click.

there. I did a quick update a minute ago and it only updated angstrom

This time it worked right away. I don't know if I imagined it or did a
software upgrade fix something.
I checked the /etc/timezone file as well and it did indeed change, so
manually changing that file would have probably worked as well.

Is there a way to test if sound is actually being pumped through the
sound card? I can lsof various devices in /dev/snd or check
/proc/asound/card0/pcmXX/sub0/status but those only tell me if a
client is *connected*. Furthermore, I find it odd that the phone-kit

single time, than the freerunner .. i have tangogps set up on both,
to the max (17) zoom-in level because i like to watch the streets
scroll by, and with the neo1973 its always smooth and accurate, but
with the freerunner,

Yeah you can and for now 8GB is pretty much the biggest you can find

I am not sure what you are talking about -- wouldn't you be able to
remove SD card in 'closed-source' phone and to see that GPS signal is
boosted? It just takes ingenuity of Germans to localize the problem
in a timely manner ;-)

As of this moment, I have never Qtopia on my Freerunner. Lorn says
there are Qtopia images for Freerunner, but I haven't seen them.
