Compiz's Sync to Vblank makes display stutter/slow with some drivers
Public bug reported:
in natty cycle, we hacked the grid plugin as the orange color was quite opaque.
With the move between repos, I guess all the grid fixes have been lost as now,
we get the issue back (opaque orange color) in 0.9.50.
IIRC, this was linked to premultiply which was missing.

Yes, sorry about the messing around yesterday. I thought GLX_SGI_swap_control
might provide a better solution, but actually had no effect since compiz seems
to avoid calling glXSwapBuffers much of the time.
So now we're back to plain old waiting. At least that's guaranteed to work with

confirmed, on my laptop i5 cpu with intel card I can see dialogs getting
a wrong geometry and no decoration for some seconds then they get
updated and display as they should, it happens with gedit, nautilus,
apport dialog...not tested anything else yet but it's likely to not be
software specific
the login is taking 15 seconds instead of 3 seconds to display the
background as well since that update

-It also occurs with Metacity.

UP !
This bug has been reported 2 months 1/2 ago. It prevents starting
Ubuntu's main Unity environment from KDM. So it should be rated
CRITICAL.
A 4-lines script fix has been proposed in comment #6. This fix works and
would be trivial to package.
So WTF ?
