Yes, sorry about the messing around yesterday. I thought GLX_SGI_swap_control might provide a better solution, but actually had no effect since compiz seems to avoid calling glXSwapBuffers much of the time. So now we're back to plain old waiting. At least that's guaranteed to work with

confirmed, on my laptop i5 cpu with intel card I can see dialogs getting a wrong geometry and no decoration for some seconds then they get updated and display as they should, it happens with gedit, nautilus, apport dialog...not tested anything else yet but it's likely to not be software specific
