I have heard that, especially in larger halls - the time it takes for the music
to get to the dancers and then the clapping back to the band makes the clapping
out of time with what the band is trying to do and can be annoying.
I am not sure I ever heard a musician say that

Also - if you want a very nice dance where the joke is the title rather than
the dance
I made a small modification to Gene Huber's 'Butter' by changing the chain to a
ladies RT 1 1/2 allemande - pass partner left to start hey. Flows nicely
New name : I can't believe it's not Butter

Interesting...
I try to avoid balances on one night stands - the dancers just don't seem to
make the firm connections they need to make them feel good
Your program looks like fun - but does not contain any dances that I use for
those events - so much good stuff available and variety is

We had a conversation at our dance tonight how many of our local callers get
tune names from the bands and pass that along to the dancers right before
starting.
Many visiting callers do not do this - is this just a local tradition or am I
missing something?
Most of our local bands are old time
My goal for these dances is for the guests to have more fun than they expected
- a pretty low bar

You can put the bride and groom in the second slot and announce they request

Very good - often if those sort of things are not happening I tip off a couple
dancers that it is an option (at a wedding I usually tell the bride and/or the
groom. For kids they are fine without all the 'options'

The dancers seemed to be having an absolute blast with a 3X3 contra-like dance.
