the font being used to display the page in that screenshot isn't Vera. it looks
like a bitmap font to me. Do you get the same problem if you tell Moz to always
use

I see no problem with this site with Galeon or Mozilla, use Bitstream Vera Sans
as the font and the mdk (not plf) freetype package.
