Now...!  Could the description in /etc/init.d/portmap
that says "The portmap server must be running on
machines which act as servers for protocols which make
use of the RPC mechanism" be fixed?  If you're an NIS
client, you're not an NFS or NIS server, so that
description leads you to believe you don't need
portmap.
