                     Issue 25 - March 1999

The purpose of this newsletter is to help stop secretive organizations and
groups from abusing others and to help those who have been allegedly abused
by the Masons, Mormons, government agencies and other secretive groups.

This newsletter is not a substitute for other ways of recovering from
ritual abuse. Readers should use caution while reading this newsletter. If
necessary, make sure other support systems are available during and after
reading this newsletter.

Important:

The resources mentioned in this newsletter are for educational value
only. Reading the books cited may or may not help your recovery process,
so use caution when reading any book or contacting any resource mentioned
in this newsletter. Some may have a religious or other agenda that may be
separate from your own recovery process. Others may have valuable
information on the Masons and other organizations, but have triggers or be
somewhat sympathetic to those organizations. Resources listed, quoted and
individual articles, etc. and their writers do not necessarily support all
or any of the views mentioned in this newsletter. Also, the views, facts
and opinions mentioned in this newsletter are solely the opinions of the
authors and are not necessarily the opinions of this newsletter or its
editor.

Please note: We have now changed the meaning of the acronym S.M.A.R.T. to "Stop
Mind control And Ritual abuse Today." This is because we have widened the scope
of the newsletter to include all secretive organizations allegedly participating
in ritual abuse.

                                Editor's Page

The following article is by Neil Brick, the editor and founder of S.M.A.R.T.
Please use caution while reading. It may be triggering. Please note: all
accusations are alleged. Please keep in mind that what is below are only ideas.
If necessary, please check with a support person before following the ideas
mentioned in this article. As always, "to thine own heart be true."

S.M.A.R.T. is now entering its fifth year of publication. While the newsletter has
grown considerably, I have grown considerably also. Before I started the
newsletter, it was very difficult to find a place to speak about the possible
connections between ritual abuse and secret societies. Often people would
purposefully minimize these connections. Other times I would be denied a forum
for expression. Now this has changed. We now have a newsletter and conference
where these connections can be discussed freely. Other newsletters are now
carrying articles discussing these connections.

Unfortunately, it is still difficult at times to get the word out to help
survivors. Both electronic media (radio, Internet) and printed media, at times
have still denied the expression of these ideas. Certain conferences will not
allow these ideas to be expressed in presentations. Even though I take the
necessary legal precautions (like the use of the word "alleged"), I still refuse
to minimize or water down the original message of the newsletter, that certain
secretive organizations may be deeply connected to ritual abuse and that many of
their members may be involved in ritual abuse.

One solution to this problem is speaking out when you are ready. Finding safe
places to speak out is very important to the growth of our fight against ritual
abuse. The S.M.A.R.T. newsletter and our conferences are good places to speak out
and find support and validation. I believe that the inner strength gained from
speaking out greatly outweighs any damage one can receive from doing so, if done
properly. This can be done by sending articles to newsletters that are safe (or
safer) and speaking on certain radio shows and at conferences.

If you can, please try to attend our conference this summer. There will always be
some "infiltration." This, fortunately, can be kept to a minimum. "Infiltration"
is probably inevitable, since some survivors are some times "split." But the
support and solidarity shown by a conference run by survivors and those truly on
our side is an extremely powerful message to those on the other side and the rest
of society in general. It is also an extremely powerful message to those fighting
to free themselves from mind control and cults. It is a statement that we will not
stop talking about what happened to us, until it stops happening to others, and
until we have all healed from it. This is our conference, let's keep it strong
and make sure it grows even stronger.

I am not a journalist at heart. I felt like I was, in a sense, forced to start the
newsletter and now conferences, because there were no other safe places to speak
out about these issues. I have learned a great deal about publishing and
journalism since starting the newsletter. There were few examples for me to
follow, since even to this date, there are very few ritual abuse newsletters out
there, and none that I know of dealing with the issues that we deal with. At times
I felt I had to speak out before I was ready to do so, but I knew I needed to
because no one else would or could, it seemed. I am glad I did. I made mistakes,
but the awareness given to this problem and the help given to other survivors well
outweighs any mistakes I have made. I have watched many people grow, including
myself. Though the future scares me sometimes, I realize that the work I have done
will hopefully help to make it a better one.

A survivor recently mentioned to me on the phone that we are all under mind
control. I wanted to discuss some ways I have found to extricate myself from mind
control, to some degree. Maybe some day we can all be free from mind control.

Not watching TV

This is not an original idea, but one that I believe is a good one
to repeat. It is claimed that TV can put us into an Alpha brain wave state (glassy
eyes) that makes us receptable to subliminal programming. I have always tried to
carefully and critically analyze any news source and look for the twisting of
facts or potential propaganda value in the story or presentation. There are many
good books to read about this. Most of our media (at least in the U.S.) is very
biased.

Breaking addictions

This is a hard one, especially for ritual abuse survivors.
Some times an addiction may be a necessary crutch to deal with the pain of
flashbacks, etc. But, inevitably, I believe one has to move on and feel their pain
and remember their programming more and more fully. Addictions are not only
substances. They can also be people or spiritual systems.

Find your own spiritual system

Some people leave one cult and end up in another.
Or they may leave one severe system of mind control and end up in another, which
may be somewhat better but still have many aspects of mind control. Issue #8
discusses aspects of cults. Why be under any form of mind control at all? Try to
make sure that you are totally free from any aspect of another belief system that
is not truly yours. Analyze everything a group says and does to you. Does it feel
right to you? Try not to run to another spiritual system simply to cover the pain
from the last one. I do not celebrate any holidays (including Christmas). I have
tried to find my own spiritual system via meditation and other recovery
techniques. Meditation has helped me explore my mind. Sitting alone and with
others in quiet non-dogmatic settings has helped me work through numerous
programs, flashbacks and feelings. I see many people that simply accept the belief
system they were indoctrinated with as children, and never analyze it or look at
other ones.

See our political system for what it really is

This is also not an original idea, but I believe a very necessary one. It is claimed
we live in a
democracy, but it appears that only those with money have any real say in what happens
in our
government and corporate media. By seeing how corrupt our media and government
are, one can understand why both, often are on the side of those fighting against
us and our movement to stop ritual abuse and mind control. People who are abused
are often unable to fight and think for themselves and may live in fear. They can
often be easily persuaded, (like sheep) to do whatever the government wants them
to. That is why our recovery individually and as a group is crucial to the healing
of ourselves and our society.

Never give up

This has always been my motto. I have been extricating myself from
mind control for more than 20 years now, and I will probably be doing it for the
rest of my life. I have refused to compromise in my search for freedom of mind.
Of course, I have at times had to compromise to keep jobs and live with other
people. But, I always try to make a situation better. At work, I choose where to
"stick my neck out" and what to fight for. But I refuse to compromise when it
means it would entail another child being abused or brainwashed. I assume I have
made many people angry about my refusal to compromise on some issues and my
refusal to water down my message. But I am glad I did. I now see things changing.
We now have a voice. That has made all the sleepless nights and the grey hairs
worth it.

I hope these ideas can help you on your recovery journey. We can and will win.

                             Radio Show Article

The information and quotes from the following article come from tapes 46 A and B
of the Mind Control Radio Series on CKLN radio. This show included Gail
Fisher-Taylor, a psychotherapist from Toronto and "Caryn Stardancer, a
California-based advocate for survivors and publisher of "Survivorship."" Please
use caution while reading. It may be triggering. Please note: all accusations are
alleged.

"CARYN STARDANCER:... my abuse started in the forties, WWII...some of the things
I first saw were a mixture of people who were involved in military, and who were
in power settings and were doing that kind of experimentation. There were also Masonic
connections. In the time I was given "mentorship" I was told there was something
called The Pantheistic Occult, and essentially what that meant was that there are
all different kinds of systems under which mind control can be perpetrated (or
belief systems, religious beliefs, political beliefs). Basically the idea is that
you target a person - by where their vulnerabilities are - dependent upon their
cultural or educational group, the profession in which they are involved, where
their vulnerabilities are - by what they already believe."

"There are different ways people are brought into the system. Some of them are
churches - there was certainly a church involved in the early contact with my
family. What the Pantheistic Occult basically meant was that it ...doesn't matter
what the belief system is, it depends on the person's adaptability, the way they
respond to issues of power, and you move your way up depending on your
adaptability. You may never know that there is a group larger than the one you are
involved in, or you may, depending on how you move through the system, and also
how the people who are in contact with you move through the system."

"... the people who were teaching me about the Pantheistic Occult were directly
involved in what was called a Dionysian Sect. That was explained as having started
in pre-Christian times - it had to do with the profession they were involved in
- which was the Law. Essentially most of what they were doing was political
blackmail. The use of the children had to do with having them adapted to sex - for
example, having them photographed in a film with adults who were being
blackmailed. It was then easy to manipulate them."

"The people bought into it more or less. Some were very cynical about it, and said
it was all about power, it didn't really matter. Other people really "believed."
It's so individual how different people respond. For example, in the one church
I went to some people were very much involved in Satanism, and very much believed,
but other people would just laugh about it privately and just say it's the system
to get the minions, to terrorize them. In that sect, in all of the different
groups I've been exposed to, and that's what I hear from survivors over the world,
that it really depends on who you are, and who you are in contact with - how much
people believe. The belief system is used essentially to indoctrinate, entrance,
terrorize - and it's part of the mind control system in that all mind control is
a conditioned response where feelings are put together with ideas."

"...[In my childhood abuse], there were people there who talked about the occult
tradition, and they traced it back directly to pre-Christian Dionysians. They had
a whole occult tradition where they
interpreted history, and they had stories about the different things that happened
to the movement of their group. And that was just one sect that I was exposed to."

Later on in the interview, in a response to a caller defending Masonry, Wayne
Morris (interviewer) replies: "I am afraid I would have to disagree with you in
the respect that we have heard allegations from across North America alleging that
they have been abused in a ritual abuse context or sexually abused by high ranking
Masons of the same Scottish Rite and the York Rite of the mainstream Masonry. Now
that is not to say that all Masons are engaged in this type of activity - in fact
I would think that the majority are not, and have no knowledge of it. But we have
heard allegation after allegation of high ranking Masons in these organizations
who are engaged in this type of activity."

S.M.A.R.T. wants to thank Wayne Morris and Caryn Stardancer for their permission

Strength

Life screams out at you
from all directions
it says get out, give up,
you're not strong enough to go any further
only the strong can succeed in this world
you may be poor or you may be rich
everyone dies from each end of the stick
so don't give up, don't give in
prove you are one of the strong
don't listen to men who abuse
or to women who hurt
they're the weak ones
you'll live longer than them
for you're the strong one
not them.

Time goes by so fast. Just yesterday I had control of my life.
