ifconfig eth0 hw ether mac doesnt work, but it works if etch is installed.
here in austria u need for cable modems to set the mac to use it.
it would be great if there is a question during installation to set the mac.

Please lets at least try to document all technical reasons which led to
dropped languages in the past so that it can be fixed. Ignoring it does
not help.
