Hello,
this is a shorter and simpler test case:
#!/usr/bin/python
import socket
print socket.getdefaulttimeout()
import apt
print socket.getdefaulttimeout()
The output I get with python-apt from experimental is:
None
/usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages/apt/__init__.py:19:
I wonder about the same. If this is not feasible please close the bug.
Regards,
Lars Bahner

Sorry, no patch -- I wanted to jot this down before I forgot. Bug
me if I haven't sent a patch in a few weeks. ;-)
For the purpose of providing the user with diagnostic information,

hi there,
i have the same problem here after updating to the current version in unstable.
This seems to lead to some permission problems while opening files on mac or
not finding associate programs for files.
deamon.log says this:
Jan 28 13:20:34 projektserver cnid_dbd[30338]: Setting uid/gid
Hi,
I'm a bit confused about what's needed/expected here.
For the lenny release we can only expect to fix RC bugs at this time.
This means the copyright/licensing fix, and possibly taking the most
critical stuff from 1.4.3 and incorporating it.
I can't ask for all of 1.4.3 to be included
What file system is this? I've seen similar on XFS, and that could be
repaired by running xfs_repair.

If you create a new file or launcher on the desktop, it won't be shown

This can be easily fixed by installing the package fam, and adding
users to the haldaemon group. Maybe this
