The uid is hardcoded into the /etc/init.d/ajaxterm init script. As ajaxterm uses
/bin/login if uid=root, there should be a way to configure without changing the

I'm seeing the same problem every time I log in, only in English. :-) I'm using
a UTF-8 locale, AFAICT, so I don't think it's that. I have seen some strange
lines in /var/log/cups/error_log:

Looks like I simply was too stupid or blind the first time (ran gdb
against pytone, not python). Here's the backtrace for the core file
