In what way is an error message making the boot experience less than optimal?
About the patch: silencing a boot script completely so it cannot print error
or warning message makes the boot experience worse.

The problem is that mtools (mcopy) returns 0 despite failure. syslinux
does handle an error code from mtools if one is provided, thus if mtools
is fixed this problem goes away in syslinux.

The issue on this particular system is that the binding file resides
on /var which isn't available early enough for
/etc/init.d/multipath-tools-boot.
In that case the paths got assigned new names during each boot which
causes the problem.
A workaround is to use the multipath-tools-boot
Tested the fix in 1.98+20100705-1, now works fine (including running
grub-install after package upgrade). Thanks!
