Aptcc uses the same code as Synaptic for this, so the only issue I can
imagine is that the environment packagekitd is running in is different

Hi,
even the latest libmemcached (1.0.17) still does not compile on
GNU/Hurd. I fixed the build issue and a test suite fail and reported it
upstream[1].
