This bug does not appear to be fixed.
To enable CR3 support, the library should be built with an additional
build option:

Rapid Photo Downloader 0.9.29 does not contain any new package
requirements compared to 0.9.27, but it does contain new requirements
compared to the existing package in Debian. Among them is a new Python

Hello Dr. Tobias Quathamer and Antoine Beaupré,
Rapid Photo Downloader 0.9.27 is the minimum version that will run on
Python 3.10. Earlier versions of Rapid Photo Downloader crash on
Python 3.10.

There is no need for any kind of fix in the code itself. Just remove the
mention of rawkit from the Rapid Photo Downloader Debian package. Rapid

I am the developer of Rapid Photo Downloader. I am not impressed by this
suggestion. Rapid Photo Downloader has an optional, soft dependency on
rawkit. Rapid Photo Downloader

The developer has not updated the code in four years. He or she is not
responding to bug reports. Does this package still belong in Debian?

This release contains important bug fixes. It also reinstates the
creation of build directory in setup.py if the build directory does
not exist.
This bug report supersedes bug Debian bug #954747. I will summarize

An update regarding gir1.2-unity-5.0: an Ubuntu desktop team member
let me know that in Debian you can have a depends added for Ubuntu
that is generated dynamically. The example he gave me was at the
bottom section:

Luckily
I today learned that libunity and its gobject introspection bindings
are not packaged in Debian. Rapid Photo Downloader will still run
without gir1.2-unity-5.0.
If packaging libunity and its bindings would cause a non-trivial delay
to packaging this new release of Rapid Photo Downloader, I think

Sorry, I didn't notice that there is a bug in the setup.py file:
The end of line 268 is missing a comma. Lines 268 & 269 should be:
'PyGObject',
'PyQt5',
I have no idea if this bug in setup.py actually pops up in the Debian
build process (I never noticed it when building it). If
in Debian):
pyheif has runtime dependencies on the non-devel versions of those
three devel packages.
If enabling HEIF / HEIC support, the package python3-pillow is a
required dependency for Rapid Photo Downloader.
Thank you.

Version 0.9.16 is released, with an important bug fix that is
necessary with new versions of python3-arrow. There are some other
minor updates too.
Thank you for your work with this application.

The current package has serious bugs regarding licensing, copyright, and
missing / incorrect dependencies.

The following dependencies are not needed and should be removed:
python3-exif
python3-gphoto2cffi
python3-hachoir-metadata
python3-kaa-metadata
The problem is not in Rapid Photo Downloader. The problem is the
incompatibility of python3-tornado 5.0 with python3-zmq 16.0.2.
Tornado 5.0 is very new.

Hi,
I'm the upstream author of Rapid Photo Downloader. As of version 0.9.0,
released earlier this year, it has been ported to use the gobject
introspection bindings, as well as python 3.
The current version is 0.9.5.
Let me know if you need any information.
Best,

Version 0.4.11, released October 22, fixes the problem with Pillow 3.0.
FWIW the next major release of Rapid Photo Downloader (which is in
development) is based on Qt and drops the dependency on Pillow.
Thank you for keeping me up to date about Debian's needs. When is the
Stretch release? Throughout this year I have been porting Rapid Photo
Downloader to Python 3.4, PyQt5, libgphoto2, and 0mq. I have made a lot
of progress but much remains to be done:

python-gphoto2 is a comprehensive Python interface (or binding) to
libgphoto2. It is built using SWIG to automatically generate the
interface code. This gives direct access to nearly all the libgphoto2
functions, but sometimes in a rather un-Pythonic manner.
