Is there any indication of a fix for this issue? We too have lost
access to multiple servers due to the bug, and various applications
requiring access to UID/GID mappings have died too.
I too would like to push for a severity upgrade.

It would be great if the option for gmpc to start minimized could be added. I
have it loading on startup, and don't like it being in the way when I first
