It happens on amd64 as well. I have libc6-i386 2.9-12 installed, though I doubt
it makes a difference.

this simple patch does it.
The downside is it doesn't lock the device, but then again you can loop
mount the same file

So why an user can't choose to use ipw3945 instead of iwl3945?
because ipw3945 is binary-only shit and dead upstream, just to name two
things.
How is the iwl* license different from the old ipw*? It's the same story:
firmware is binary-only, the rest is GPL:

Well, it has nothing to do with nvidia.
Tried it on tightvncserver -- same results.

My smart ISP decided to do some really weird rapid ip changes:
Jan 18 14:17:14 dev ddclient[13901]: SUCCESS: updating my.host.name:

Jan 18 14:20:39 dev ddclient[21237]: SUCCESS: updating my.host.name:
This happens with a MS Intellimouse Explorer as well, so it's not
Logitech-related.
And indeed, it happens only when mouse is grabbed (setting \in_nograb
1 in tremulous fixes it).

The original bug report about this mentioned libc6-i686. Do you
reproduce the problem if that package is removed and you then run
dpkg-reconfigure debconf -fkde ?
Yes, the problem existed without libc6-i686. My bad, I sidetracked #441975
because libc6-i686 had nothing to do with it

It segfaults with frontend Kde. Can't dpkg-reconfigure debconf as that

It's related to debconf, in my case with KDE frontend. See #443753

What version of libqt-perl do you have installed? What changed on your
system to cause kde to start segfaulting? Did it happen in the middle of
an upgrade? Does root have access to your DISPLAY? What does the crash
actually look like?
libqt-perl 3.008-2
It doesn't crash kde.
Update: after said experience, and now up-to-date sid, it works. Can
switch frontend to kde and no segfault.
Under the circumstances, the bug should probably be further downgraded
as it will be irreproducible and must have something to do with the
obscure state my system was in. I guess if anyone

After removing libc6-i686, upgrade worked. However, on upgrade to

The interesting part is that right now, anything higher than 2.6.1-2
segfaults (3-5), always at /usr/share/debconf/frontend,
