~/schroot-1.1.6$ grep -Rn O_NOFOLLOW .
./sbuild/sbuild-chroot-config.cc:441: int fd = open(file.c_str(),
O_RDONLY|O_NOFOLLOW);
I don't see a reason why opening the configuration file with O_NOFOLLOW

I think sbuild should support appending a string to the version number of
the package at build time, similar in function to --binNMU, but with
support for appending arbitrary strings to the version numbers.

My patch for #475777 adds text to documentation for this, since it was
already changing some adjacent lines (it also makes the documentation for
--make-binNMU correspond to the actual behavior). I probably should have
been a good citizen and done it as a patch stack.

I came across a package where the upstream tarball contained some i386
binaries on it which it did not clean but did install in its makefile.
The result was that when building the package on amd64, I got the
following confusing error
that rm a couple files built by the upstream
distribution.

I've attached a patch to do this.

Hello,
I'm working on packaging SAGE for Debian, which links against libmpfi.
However, I'm getting linking problems on amd64 because libmpfi in debian
is not compiled with -fPIC (as it should be).
The right solution to this is that I

The current gmp-ecm package works fine for SAGE in Debian on i386, but on
amd64 I run into the problem that the static library is not built with
-fPIC and thus can't link into the SAGE shared libraries.

Bill,
I'm running SAGE using the Debian pari installation, and it gives wrong
answers when computing Hermite Normal Forms because of some bug that I
think you probably know more about than I do. Anyway, I'd appreciate an

I'm working on getting SAGE running on Debian, and various libraries it
uses (iml and linbox) seem to require ATLAS for their blas implementation.
The ATLAS package in Debian has been renamed to libatlas-base-dev as part
of the gfortran transition, and I
