Package: debootstrap Version: 1.0.123 I’m using ganeti to create an ubuntu 20 “focal” VM on a debian 11 host, but it always fails with the following output (pulled from debootstrap.log on the instance disk):
Setting up passwd (1:4.8.1-1ubuntu5) ... Killed Killed chown: cannot access '/etc/shadow': No such file or directory chmod: cannot access '/etc/shadow': No such file or directory Please correct the error and rerun `/sbin/shadowconfig on' dpkg: error processing package passwd (--configure): installed passwd package post-installation script subprocess returned error exit status 1 Setting up libpam-runtime (1.3.1-5ubuntu4) ... Errors were encountered while processing: passwd I followed ganeti-instance-debootstrap instructions, in which case the ‘focal’ variant is just a symlink to ‘gutsy’, so I’m not sure what else to try. In case it helps, Debian 11 and Ubuntu 18 (bionic) instances work without error.
