In this case, you'll need to set your *** LD_LIBRARY_PATH environment variable, or edit /etc/ld.so.conf to point *** to the proper version. Also, make sure you have run ldconfig if *** that is required on your system. make: *** [config.status] Error 1 Installing zlib1g-dev in addition to the packages listed in the Build-Depends allows building the package again. It appears one of the other packages used to bring that in indirectly, but doesn't any more. -- Daniel Schepler
