Apparently bug #380129 is still valid: after installation, I get the already 
reported 
> HINT: R_HOME must be defined in the environment of the user that starts the
> postmaster process.
error. Setting export R_HOME=/usr/lib/R or R_HOME=/usr/lib/R/lib
in /etc/profile and restarting postgresql did not help.
