There is a long-standing bug ( 3 years) in marvosym.sty that we have been
trying to fix:

In the Debian BTS link above, there is a patch that fixes the problem.
We contacted the author of the package, Thomas Henlich, some time
the package was taken over, earlier this year, and re-done.
the test program compiles correctly with tex live 11, under latex
or pdflatex.
why is it satisfactory to send out bug messages without testing whether
the bug has been corrected?
