Hi Christian Bug you're right, I could download the etchandhalf kernel sources and try again with that kernel... The point is mostly confirming that the bug is also there with the stock Debian kernel. As always with things related to cifs stuff, problems may lie in the userland utilities

Looks like I'm not alone with that bug: Ubuntu and Gentoo also seam to have similar reports: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/samba/+bug/129209 http://www.quotesdb.info/freenode/gentoo/27Jan2006/43.html -Benoit- -- SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM / Hormel's new miracle meat in a can Tastes fine,

Quoting Benoit Panizzon ([EMAIL PROTECTED]): No. Are there any kernel oopses shown in dmesg? Nope... It is 100% reproducible, even after a reboot. I did setuid root /sbin/mount.cifs so users can mount shares. Hmm, on another machine with same kernel and etchandhalf I cannot reproduce

Hi Christian What about etchandhalf *and* the etchandhalf kernel? I use a Nvidia Graphics Card. So I cannot use a 'pre built' Kernel as I need the source to compile the Nvidia Module... Bug you're right, I could download the etchandhalf kernel sources and try again with that kernel...

Package: smbfs Version: 3.0.24-6etch10 Severity: normal I updated to etchandhalf and compiled an own 2.6.26.1 kernel. Since I get this error trying to mount a cifs drive: [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ /sbin/mount.cifs //reflector.EXAMPLE.COM/files reflector -o user=benoit, noperm Password: *** glibc
