we have this problem also with our Debian based distribution at Univention: I
was able to reporduce this bug only with i386, but not with amd64, so it
looks like to be a platform dependent problem. (3.1.1-14_i386.deb)

Interesting. I *think* I tested it on i386 when I said it's not reproducible
